| Lassiviren05-18-04, 01:31 PM | I know these can't be used for LG play any more but is there anyway we can use them for a home game? I find it incredibly wasteful that they disappear after their run in LG. |
| Simpi05-18-04, 01:50 PM | Officially you cannot use them. Unofficially if you or someone else gets his hand on a retired module, there's really not much that RPGA can do. Some GMs keep printed copies of all modules they run (and electronic of course) so getting to know people and asking around is the best bet to get old modules. |
| Lassiviren05-18-04, 02:59 PM | Amidst the Mists and Coldest Frosts [COR2-03] This is the adventure I am looking for... Hopefully someone who browses these threads can point me in the right direction. |
| Steve_MND05-18-04, 03:10 PM | Given that distributing retired RPGA modules is technically illegal, I doubt you'll get many responses here. WotC is not real big on promoting illegal activities on their own boards... ;) |

WotC is not real big on promoting illegal activities on their own boards... ;) Quite true and I said unofficially. This board falls into official section. Run into people at conventions, that's your best bet to find them and that's not urging into illegal activity, it's a fact that people are willing to give out these copies. And no, I don't have that module. It's also possible that people might get their hands on blank ARs and it could be used to make a sort of forgery with a new character, making ti appear that he would have the Argentvorax bonus which is very much desired from that module. |
| Lassiviren05-18-04, 03:51 PM | I realize that these scenarios on the whole aren't great examples of adventure design but given the fact that the authors don't keep copyrights to their own work, I am wondering why anyone would bother writing for LG? As an aside, if said author decided to strip all Greyhawk specific mentions from his adventure couldn't he sell it again or put it up on his website? I guess I am surprised the RPGA is so hamfisted about these things. I am sure if people put their heads together a more intelligent resolution could be found that would benefit the authors and WOTC, not to mention the massive amount of Greyhawk fans who don't think much of LG in general. |

They do retain copyrights nowadays. Until Y2 RPGA paid authors. Now authors get copyrights back after module expires. I'll be happy to send you my Onnwal/Knurl intro modules and Naerie regionals when they expire 1.1.2006 :D |
| pauln605-19-04, 08:37 AM | I'm not interested in the modules per se but rather in the gazeteer information that they contain such as stats for npcs and write-ups on locations, particularly villages & towns. Living Greyhawk is meant to develop as it goes but it seems that a lot info is just allowed to fade away. Crazy fool that I am, I'm stitching together all available info into my own Oerth gazeteer (for my personal use - far too much copyrighted material). It's hard to find information beyond the basics in the official printed stuff so little bits of info (a tavern name etc), even a line here or there, from a wide number of sources would really help. The average entry for each region in my gazeteer so far is 36-50 pages and growing, and that's from the printed gazeteers, TSR & WotC printed modules, Oerth Journals, LGG Websites, Canonfire, Dragon & Dungeon. Is anybody actually keeping an official record of the info in the retired LGG modules in the same way? |

| pauln605-19-04, 10:54 AM | Most of the websites update infrequently and gazeteer info does not seem to be updated following retired modules. Most sites don't even contain the names of key npcs let alone any stats, although some are more detailed than others. Some sites post 'official' outcomes to adventures and keep track of ongoing plots but a lot of others don't. I keep an eye of the forums but even there different triads have very different styles. Just look at Living Geoff compared to the Principality of Ulek. The Geoff players are seriously overloading me with info in the forums every day. It would be so helpful if updates could be posted regularly on a central site by each triad. I have almost no idea what has happened in LGG since 591CY. i can't be the only one! |

| Lassiviren05-20-04, 11:11 AM | Well I was able to get a copy. It wasn't as great as I heard it was supposed to be. Go figure. |

People like it for a change to get Argentvorax. It's free money so of course everybody wants that. You might have to lose a TU if you roll high but then again you get 500gp out of that..... |
| Steve_MND05-20-04, 02:10 PM | You know, a lot of people -- including me -- have that, but more often than not they forget to make the roll... :) |

Last time I got 200gp out of it :D We had a very nice DM for that one and it was very enjoyable scenario. |

It just doesn't work with the AR format because the judge fills in the GP and I forget about it most of the time. In addition, once you get to higher levels, losing a TU is huge. My last meta-regional was worth 6,600 GP (APL 14), so the reward is no longer worth the risk. Ed |
