I am sure this is going to sound very ignorant to everyone, but what exactly does the year on a module refer to? For example when someone says the year 5 mods are going to expire at the end of the year. What is the year representing?

Year 5 = 5th year of campaign = CY 595 = 2005 on the real world.

Except for intro mods and maybe special missions (someone will have to clarify this,) mods expire at midnight December 31st of the year after they were introduced.

The year of the campaign. The modules that came out in 2005, came out in the fifth year of the Living Greyhawk campaign (also known as 595 CY - CY is for "common year".) These year 5 mods will all retire from play on Dec 31, 2006. But have no fear, we'll still have the year 6 mods to play and Year 7 mods can be released as early as Jan 1st, 2007.

The campaign actually began in the summer of 2000, and year One extended to cover all of 2001, but every other campaign year has covered just 12 real calendar months.
