I am SO SO ready to start playing my Greyhawk character...

Isaiah Bradley "The Grey Guard"
LG Human (Baklunish)
Worshiper of Al'Akbar (or Zodal)

Fighter 4/Monk 2/Paladin 4/Grey Guard 10

He will be focusing on Paladin, using Monk for Unarmed Attacks & bonus feats.. and loosing the other abilities, since he will be wearing armor and wielding a shield.

(Does anyone know of a way to get Armor/shield on a monk without loosing the monk abilities?)

I found a feat that would let me Flurry with shield bash (if it were lg legal), but even then, you would have to NOT use it for defense.. only as a weapon.

Well, you can't evade/tumble in armor, but you can use Unarmed strike and Grapple until you are blue in the face.

actually, i can do both if I stick to light armor.

Monks evasion works in light armor. And that will keep the armor check penalty low enophe to make tumble possible.

I found an alternative class ability to replace flurry in PH2 with a single Unarmed strike for double damage and it doesnt require me to remove my armor.

Still have to get access to the alternative class ability then retrain it in though.

Since GH ruins takes place in the new Domain of Greyhawk region and given that region is not under the control of a triad, I doubt those responsible will have the time to cook up special missions for anyone.

Your triad is determined by your physical location.. not your characters home region. So, yes Special Missions are still an option for Core region characters.

so are you going to have to create a new lvl 1 character to play Greyhawk Ruins at all? Or is it just the first adventure?

It seems to me the campaign news says you have to use a new character for the plot arc, but appearantly others are not interpreting it the same way.

yeah, i've got some players who are sure its just the first adventure, but it reads the whole arc to me.

Of course the announcement isn't the rules, so things might change, but the announcement says: Only new or 1st-level characters can play in Greyhawk Ruins. (That is the AR for the first adventure must appear in your stack before you reach 2nd-level). This is pretty clear. If you want to play in Greyhawk Ruins you need a chararacter which is < 2nd level when you play the first module.

This doesn't mean you need to play a new character, as you did to play Blood on Bright Sands, but you have to play a level 1 character, like any intro module. How this works for people joining the series without playing the first of the four adventures isn't clear yet. I imagine you'd have to have a 1st level character to play the second adventure if you haven't played the first one.

With the extensiveness of the modules as they have been described, I think you have to play 1 character for the full arc. It will likely take up the majority of that characters TU's. I hope that is their intention.

I'm going from my admittedly shoddy memory, but I believe the Circle reps said at the D&D XP meeting that the intention was to go through the whole series with 1 character. Each adventure after the first will have an APL range starting at 2, and they will scale up from there. So if you die, you can bring in a new character and still play at APL 2. I don't think we ever got an answer to the "Can you bring in a higher level character after the first adventure?" question.
