So, as per the sourcebook, you can make any character a "Ruins" character, but if you don't play any ruins games before you hit second level you default back to your home region?

If so, do you keep access to any unlocked alternate class features which you have access to?

Initial first reading of the doc, I'm inclined to say yes, based on how access works in LG in general.

However, the Circle author of that campaign doc was somewhat perturbed upon hearing about people contemplating such an action.

A Dispel Confusion preventing exactly that wouldn't surprise me in the least.

That's fine, this character will just become my Ruins character tho'.

To be honest, however, I'd like to see more 'alternate class features' be available on character creation. For 598cy, that's something I think we should consider.

I'm hoping that most of these are answered in the "restricted play" rules of the adventures, but here are my questions...

So the first CGR has four parts that can be played in any order. Let’s call them 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d. I understand that if my PC dies, my new level 1 PC can enter CGR by attaching the dead PC’s AR (so long as he plays CGR before reaching level 2).

If I GM 1a, am I still eligible to play 1b, 1c, and 1d? I guess this depends on how CGR1 is reported and whether all parts will come in a PDF package. It might be nice if GenCon-ers are able to return and GM 1a and 1b without eating 1c and 1d.

If I play 1c with my level 1 PC “Bob” and he’s not dead, can I play 1b with my level 1 PC “Joe”, or does “Bob” have to finish CGR1 (or die trying)? IOW, can I start 4 Domain of Greyhawk PCs via CGR1 with the potential of more in the future chapters?
If not, can I start “Joe” in CGR2 even if “Bob” is still alive?

I understand the “must be first level to enter” requirement. Since CGR1 is four single rounds, I’m guessing ~450XP / module. So is it okay to play 1a, then play Howling Hordes (ADP7-02, must be level 1), then play 1b, 1c, and 1d (as a level 2+)? Or are there some special level-up restrictions for CGR1?

Thanks to playtesting, does the Circle have any recommendations for which part is best to start a party of level 1s? Is there one of the four CGR1s that is best / recommended for a party of 1st-AR PCs? Does the Circle expect that the PCs will have additional resources (level 1s with GP from 1 or 2 modules for equipment or animals, possibility of level 2 – 4 PCs that already played their first CGR)?

Does the Circle advise against bringing level 3 or 4 PCs (that played their first CGR part as a level 1) into part of CGR1 due to insufficient challenge?

Is a PC eligible to play Greyhawk Ruins if this isn't their first time as a level 1? If a level 2 PC dies and is raised, can he now enter CGR1 (provided he does so before regaining level 2)?

Thanks for your answers.

Can existing 1st level characters "move" to Greyhawk? Granted I can see not having access to anything for the 1st level stuff, but I'd rather not have to start yet another 1st level character when I just started one so I wouldn't have to eat an intro mod.

As long as your character has not reached 2nd level then the answer is yes. I think maybe later on you could be able to rebuild the character to take advantage of the special rules for character creation.

ACtually, the answer is "no". The vary last question of the FAQ on the last page of the document covers it.
