| Mystical_Tutor07-25-07, 11:06 AM | Kobolds have arrived, and with them the need for SAKE. Society for the Advancement of Kobold Equality. Sad to say, but even though the new discovery of "non-evil" Kobolds has stimulated and excited the citizens of Oerth, repercussions have already started to happen. Racial prejudice, bigotry and downright race hatred have sprung up in places usually noted for their understanding and tolerance, such as the County of Urnst (Statement below reflects the present state of affairs in this previously generous and amiable domain). It is feared that such reactions may occur in other locations where people will shot first and ask questions later (there is little concern that any problems will arise in the Bandit Kingdom). Therefore! This is a call to those of good heart and noble aspirations. Join SAKE and unite in an effort to thwart bigotry and establish a safe and hospitable environment for these new citizens of Oerth. One who "has a dream" Statement from the County of Urnst (it must be pointed out, however, that the bulk of this statement has no official bearing on the kobolds under discussion. After all, if they are from a "non-evil" dragon it would be assumed that they, as a race, are "non-evil". The post is presented here only to raise awareness of the 'knee-jerk' type of reaction that many will have to encountering a "Kobold") In light of upcoming Living Greyhawk player reward cards, we have determined that the law regarding non-humans must be addressed. These laws are set forth in order to maintain the flavor of our region, as well as to act in concert with our current storylines. D&D Core Races v In the eyes of County of Urnst law, all the core D&D races (dwarf, elf (except Drow), gnomes, halflings, half-orcs, and humans) are considered to be equal before the law. Though personal differences between individuals do exist, people from these races suffer no wide-spread prejudices and can usually expect fair treatment from the authorities. Non-evil Races v Races not known for being evil, such as Asherati, Centaurs, Forest Giants, and lizardfolk are usually treated fairly, though prejudices are more common. Sentences are often harsher for these folks, but there are no hard and fast rules (such special cases would be noted in the adventure). Evil Races v Races that are known to be evil (such as drow, duergar, forest trolls, gnolls, gobliniods, kobolds, ogres, and orcs) are often the target of severe prejudice and executed on suspicion of spying or potential association with dark forces such as Iuz or the Black Man in the Swamp. The authorities frown upon these folk and often organize hunts and try to destroy these creatures when they are found. For example, Lord Duncombe has currently posted a bounty of 5 silver castle per humanoid head brought to his people. v Playing these races in the County of STRONGLY discouraged. If you are ever arrested for a crime OR if you incur the enmity of ANY of the County's nobles, Knightly order or Military, your character will be executed (your body is then returned to your friends to be raised). v If you gained an enmity, execution may be stayed if you succeed at a DC 25 disguise check to pass as a gnome or a halfling. Alternatively, you may pay your way to avoid of your pursuers by paying APLx500gp to escape (other party members may assist you in paying this amount, you may not use overcap for this). This check and bribe costs may be modified in adventures. v There is no escaping the executioner if you have already been captured and are in custody. v Unless specified in the adventure, no members of an evil race may receive an influence point from any non-evil faction of the County. You may receive gold and experience as normal. Many NPCs will refuse to deal with you. For the purpose of previously released adventures, House Underley is the only one who would give an honor such influence. v No member of an evil race may belong to a County meta-org without explicit campaign documentation (standard documentation is not sufficient). |
| Morgen07-25-07, 12:08 PM | Whew, it's a good thing that these are Sojourner Kobolds and not regular kobolds. Sojourners aren't evil after all and don't even look like regular kobolds, so we should be safe. Expeditious Retreat, Haste, Dimension Door, Teleport... |
| LGMoses07-26-07, 12:57 AM | well, what i want to know is: 1. what are these sojourner kobolds and how are they physically different from kobolds? 2. where are they from and how did they get here? cuz kobolds are .... well common adventurer fodder. They work for the Pomarj and are in Iuz's employ. They're commonly evil. The Yeomanry position is to kill them on sight (like dragon disciples) and I agree with that. For as much... mischief as kobolds are known to be up to they should often just be killed on sight. |
| Mystical_Tutor07-26-07, 08:51 AM | Stealing directly from message #1 on the Kobolds Cards Arrive thread: "The Mist Kingdom is named for the persistent fog in which its seven islands are shrouded. The islands lie in the Volhoun Ocean (Pearl Sea), south of the Amedio Jungle. The Mist Kingdom is home to draconic lords- at least one dragon lives on each island. The dragons coexist peacefully with one another and with beastfolk and kobolds that share their island homes and serve them. ...While you look slightly different than a normal kobold (metallic or mist grey scales and eyes) you must be cautious, as kobolds are killed on sight in many places. You derive your heritage from a non-evil dragon. ..." ********************* However, many people will say "All Kobolds look alike" and things like "The only good Kobold is a dead Kobold" so your position will find a lot of support. And think about it. These Kobolds will have to choose to work for Pomarj and Iuz if they want, as a "presumably" neuteral race. To our dissadvantage. THAT is why we MUST QUICKLY move to spread the light!!. Would we want a WHOLE RACE to go bad? Think of how WE will be swelling the ranks of the evil armies if we, through bigotry and oppression, force a potential ally into the camps of the evil ones! SAKE is the way! It is the path all of good heart and even those simply considering their own best interests must take to insure this new race is not discriminated against unjustly so that it turns against us!!!! The County of Urnst are practically in bed with the new Kobold faction. :emp: Expect no such leniency from the Empire of Keoland. |
| LachlarlanIII07-26-07, 10:33 AM | Sake? SAKE?!! SAAAAKE!!!!! I'm sorry... I couldn't resist. Here in the BK we've got a manditory meta-org called Wanted by the Church of Iuz. Various things increase or decrease one's wanted score, and the higher one's score is, the worse off one is. Kobolds in the Bandit Kingdoms actually start with a negative wanted score, and could, hypothetically, play a paladin of Pelor and wear his holy symbol in the open and only get a slap on the wrist. Obviously, PC kobolds with the divine spark cannot worship Pelor, but that was just a hypothetical. |
| mregecko07-26-07, 10:37 AM | Lord Duncombe has currently posted a bounty of 5 silver castle per humanoid head brought to his people. HAH! Joke's on you. My Kobold is a dragon subtype, not humanoid. Suckers. No 5sp for you. -- Gecko |
| Zanzibax07-26-07, 10:47 AM | HAH! Joke's on you. My Kobold is a dragon subtype, not humanoid. Suckers. No 5sp for you. -- Gecko Aw, so NOW what are we supposed to do with your head? |
| Mystical_Tutor07-26-07, 11:17 AM | SAKE Society for the Advancement of Kobold Equality Kobolds in the Bandit Kingdoms actually start with a negative wanted score,... I see a large influx of Kobold PC's headed for the Bandit Kingdom (well, at least till the priests of The Old One figure out that they are LN, or some such). DON'T BE BLIND! Arise! In every kingdom, city and hamlet! Welcome this new race with open arms! Promote friendship and alliance! You will be stronger while those that receive them with bigotry and intollarance will loose their support! SAKE!!!! |
| LGMoses07-26-07, 11:48 AM | i still don't understand how they got here if these mist kingdoms are so far away. did all the sudden pc kobolds come over on the LG equivalent of gilligan's island? |

| mregecko07-26-07, 11:54 AM | Aw, so NOW what are we supposed to do with your head? Admire its beauty while it's attached to my body? |
| Zanzibax07-26-07, 11:56 AM | Admire its beauty while it's attached to my body? I think it would look better mounted and stuffed. :lop: |
| Banor07-26-07, 10:18 PM | I think it would look better mounted and stuffed. :lop: I bet my Advanced Colossal Gold Dragon ancestor think the same of you :) |
| Zanzibax07-27-07, 03:22 AM | I bet my Advanced Colossal Gold Dragon ancestor think the same of you :) Oh I'm sure. Especially since I've killed so many blacks, blues, and greens close to his way of thinking. :) |
| Shieldhart9107-27-07, 04:46 AM | My brothers and sisters, I'll be making SAKE Certs for the Furyondy Branch. Kobolds, unite! |
| Britt07-27-07, 04:56 AM | Iuz doesn't really use kobolds; he likes more chaotic and intimidating looking creatures. They got here the same way people from the Amedio Jungle got here, on a boat. There have always been kobolds from the Mist Kingdom in the Flanaess, you just couldn't play as them before. They are pretty rare, which is simulated by the fact that you need a card and there are really only a couple hundred adventurers in the Flanaess (six bozos rule). |
| copper_wyrmling07-27-07, 09:20 AM | They got here the same way people from the Amedio Jungle got here, on a boat. Hmmph. My preferred method for explaining my kobold's presence in the Flanaess is still a teleport error by my high-level wild mage :P (She's fluent in Draconic and gets along very well with good-aligned dragons, and she's very protective towards kobolds - she'd enjoy playing tourist in the Mist Kingdoms.) May non-kobolds join SAKE? ;) |
| Britt07-27-07, 01:18 PM | Yeah, teleport error or intent works as well :) |
| awroe07-28-07, 06:20 AM | They got here the same way people from the Amedio Jungle got here, on a boat. At least, unlike the Snow Elves, they don't have to go back by boat between every adventure. Must save them a lot of time... |
| LGMoses07-28-07, 10:23 PM | It was that accursed kobold paladin that began the insurrection. that kobold paladin is awesome! |
