| Munktar03-26-07, 04:26 AM | Hi there, I am creating a new priest, but I am not inot all the greyhawk gods. I would like to worship someone like Isig of the Jug, or Ilmater What god would be the greyhawk equivalent? |
| King Kashue03-26-07, 04:52 AM | Issek of the Jug :P And for Greyhawk, Zodal is close, he's the god of Mercy and Benevolence. There's not direct equivalent, since there's no god of endurance. |
| Munktar03-26-07, 06:21 AM | I really like my priest to be suffering for greater good :) even to the extend of (self)flagallation |
| Alpha_Nerd03-26-07, 06:49 AM | Pholtus :D |
| gomeztoo03-26-07, 08:03 AM | An alternate choice is Daoud, hero-god of humulity, clarity, and immediacy. He teaches the Path of the seeker (honestly, humility, poverty, and endurance). You get penalties on some skills if you have too much ready money (more than 1,000 gp) when you play a priest of Daoud. See the LG Deities document. |
| Lupo03-26-07, 08:19 AM | Pholtus :D perfect catch :P where is your character from? look what your regional gods are. depending on your region, an ascetic follower of Al'Akbar might be an option, otherwise Pelor used to be a god concerned about the sufferings of mortals (focus has changed slightly, but your cleric can easily be a member of a orthodox sect), Vathris is also a "suffering" god, at least one of his aspects. Zodal is a pacifistic god and dedicated to Pelor's former doctrine, so may also be an option ciao martin m. |
| King Kashue03-26-07, 01:57 PM | Vathris is also a "suffering" god, at least one of his aspects. Yeah, but he's more of a "suffering through hell so I can get close enough to shove a spear through your shoulder blades" sort of guy :D |
| Lupo03-26-07, 03:34 PM | Yeah, but he's more of a "suffering through hell so I can get close enough to shove a spear through your shoulder blades" sort of guy :D i don't think he actually cares about exact point of anatomy :P but when you read the description in the deities document, there is the "old orthodox" branch that is not so fixed on revenge :) ciao martin m. |
| Eric Anondson03-26-07, 05:26 PM | A certain interpretation of Vathris kind of comes close. Much more angry and vengeful. If you want suffering, he sort of embodies it. Zodal would be another angle on Ilmater. Mercy, Hope, Benevalence. Also NG. Rao would be another interpretation. Peace, Reason, Serenity is his portfolio. Rao is NG but has paladin orders, which helps with finding a symmetry with Ilmater. Berna, a Tuov demigod, is another almost-Ilmater. Passion and forgiveness is her portfolio. Not at all lawful. But going Tuov is a whole other bundle of difficulties for someone who is not familiar with the setting. I think Rao is a nice fit, personally. |

Gendwar gave up all pleasure and happiness to embark on a (as yet unfinished) quest to exterminate, genocide style, all enemies of the dwarves. He also abhor's the typical dwarven fascination with treasure and followers of gendwar must live an austere life with clerics taking something similiar to a vow of poverty. |

Like the Vathris comparison, Ilmater is about suffering to make others' lives better...Gendwar Argrim is about suffering in order to perpetuate an utter elimination of multiple races :D Not quite the same thing (though he fits my death commando style dual wield fighter quite well). |

| Munktar03-27-07, 03:01 AM | Thanks for all the suggestions. I will be looking into them. I think either Pholtus or Zodal i think... "Pie Iesu Domine. Dona Eis Requiem" |
| Gaelforcwynd03-27-07, 10:18 AM | Thanks for all the suggestions. I will be looking into them. I think either Pholtus or Zodal i think... "Pie Iesu Domine. Dona Eis Requiem" This is how I go would go about it: Step 1 - Choose two Domains. Step 2 - Eliminate all deities that are incompatible with Step 1. Step 3 - Eliminate all races which are incompatible with Step 2. Step 4 - Decide whether it's worth forfeiting a feat to be non-Human. Step 5 - See Step 1. |
