Could someone in the Circle answer a few questions for me please?

Are we going to get a Dispel Confusion this month, or did the Greyhawk Ruins "special" one at the end of August replace it?

Secondly: It has been mentioned that someone was working on paperwork for a transfer to the Magic Item Compendium version of items, similar to the transfer that was made for the Spell Compendium.

Is this transfer still going to go ahead? And if so, can a time frame be given?

And finally: Will there be a 598 LGCS, incorporating new products that have been released during 2007, or will 7.5 be the working version until the end of the campaign?

Many thanks.

I'm not sure on the DC i'll have to see whats going on with that.

as far as the MiC and items that is still being worked on.

And the LGCS for 598 - that has yet to be determined if we are going to update it as there really aren't any new books coming out that have usable items from the sources for players. I'll bring these up in our meeting thats upcoming.

Specific items to consider:
* Opening anything from Complete Champion
* Adoption or not of the Rules Compendium rules updates (!! HUGE issue !!)

and then
* Greyhawk Ruins Sourcebook 1.1 - fix problems, include the DC'd and board-announced items?

Thanks for the reply Tim.

Ragarding the LGCS though, Complete Champion, Dungeonscape and Cityscape need to at least be added to the source material, though thios could be done through DC. And as just mentioned, the campaign management's position on the Riles Compendium will need to be stated, especially if Wizards list it as an errata source as they did with the Spell Compendium.

Speaking of which, I saw mentioned somewhere the other day that official errate for Spell and Magic Item Compendiums has been prepared, and will be posted onto the site sometime soon.

Any previews on how this is going to work? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's been holding back purchasing items due to the MIC.

I've seen campaign access to stuff from all those sources on AR's over the past few months. I don't see a real need to put any more effort into this than necessary.

I hope not - I am definitely NOT going to buy any books that are going to be obsolete in less than a year.

Precisely the reason that Circle needs to consider adoption of Rules Compendium closely.

I'm sure given how upset many are about LG and/or 3.5 dieing, that many will refuse to use the Rules Compendium even if it becomes a legal source in the LGCS. Unless of course the book becomes free somehow. rofl

I simply won't buy another book in the 3.5 system. Period.

The current standard is that there is not a list in the LGCS that defines the list of sources used in the campaign. The only reason the LGCS needs to be modified for the products listed above is if resources are added from them to the Open list.

Such as the Sanctified One PrC from 'Champion, or some of the feats or equipment for Dungeonscape?

There are quite a few things in those books which would work well as Open access, if the Circle wanted them to. I just wondered if they were considering it.

And as to the providence of the Rules Compendium, well, it's your choice of course, especially if the only D&D you play is LG. But I for one am involved in two 3.5 campaigns which will not be converting, and am strongly considering starting another using Ptolus.

The only D&D I play is LG. I already feel stupid for buying Complete Champion and MM5 right before the 4.0 announcement. I'm sure as hell not buying yet another 3.5 book only to have it be totally useless (for me) in short order.

If Rules Compendium becomes a core DM book - I'm afraid I'll simply "just play" for the remainder of LG. If it becomes mandatory for playing, I'll grumble a lot but what can I really do. They'd have me over a barrel at that point. I could refuse to play, but wouldn't (my choice).

The LG source decisions so far have been based on the idea that the DM requires only the mod and three core books. All else is either something optional that the player can bring into the game and provide the documentation, or are optional rules (skill use, etc) that the DM can opt to use. This goes for Spell Compendium as well, despite whatever errata status it has.

I expect that I'll still be playing 3.5 into 2009 or 10, likely in overlap with 4.0, and will decide about buying Rules Compendium if is has sufficient value and merit. I don't expect it to be a required addition for DMs to have in LG. If I'm wrong, and it is adopted as some forced standard, I expect that it will do so because it has strong merit, such that I will be buying it regardless.

While I recognize that the value of the product will be subjective, particularly for those who are displeased with the edition change, I'll be very surprised if it is both a poor value and required as a rules source.

Precisely the reason that Circle needs to consider adoption of Rules Compendium closely.

Honestly, I'm confused on exactly how it would apply to LG. Non-PHB/MM/DMG rules material are presented in the mod. And for the most part, characters don't use rules from outside PHB except for things either covered in in other Compendiums(items/spells) or would take up way too much space to fit in a 160 page book(feats/PrCs)

And there seems to be the considerable downside of having to revise mods to present the material for DMs...

Well, it might answer some questions which are currently the subject of table-variation/debate.

For instance, the Sage has just declared that all PrCs are subject to the Complete Warrior rules if a character loses a pre-requisite. The question was "what happens to an assassin who becomes non-evil?" and the answer referred directly to Complete Warrior in ruling that the assassin would lose all class features, etc etc. (http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4ask/20070920a)

These kinds of things, which are not clear in the original-core rules, are likely to form part of the Rules Compendium. From WotC's point of view, the RC is likely to form part of the new-core of 3.5: the PH, MM, DMG, SpC, MIC and RC. I wouldn't be surprised if there are even some 'errata'-type changes included in the book, which would make it very strange for the campaign not to adopt it as a definitive declaration of the rules of D&D.

I do not have a September DC planned, as there simply isn't much to clarify.

There will likely be a minor update in Jan/Feb, but I doubt we'll be adding much, if any content. The terrain books have not typically been included in the LGCS Open lists.

When we see the RC, we will evaluate it and see what to do with it. Until then, discussion is premature.

Has there been any discussion on whether the MIC item upgrade rules will be introduced?

I've seen access to a large number of MIC items, but a lot of them loose their appeal if they can't be upgraded with stat boosts later on.

What about MIC pricing and functionality updates, as well as the update to the upgrade rules?
