| TetsujinOni12-27-07, 09:29 AM | On a note that doesn't require an answer of "when HQ finishes", I'll put out the next best thing: Can we get APL range and round-equivalent counts for the adaptable versions of Sinister Spire and Fortres of the Yuan-Ti from the adapters, so we have some idea of whether the characters who played Barrow are going to level out of being able to play the sequels? Thanks! |
| TimRat12-30-07, 07:48 PM | for fortress it should be around APL 8-10 range since its for 7th level characters. i have to figure out the ELs and all that before giving a final answer. with TUs not being a huge problem the APL calculation will be easier to project. the one thing is wehther the adventure suggests you level during it. if thats the case look for it to have 2 ARs much like barrow. for sinister i am not sure since i did not do that one i'm trying to get that nailed down asap but with the holidays haven't heard a response. |
| TetsujinOni12-30-07, 10:57 PM | Thanks for the response, I look forward to hearing one way or the other sometime in the coming month(s). I'm definitely worried about my character who played Barrow leveling out of range, though, because he's been my primary... Or he'll just be a little big when we play Red Hand. Big on red hand sounds like a not terrible idea for an arcane, though, now that we don't have TU pressure! I'm looking forward to running another table of Barrow, and hopefully we'll get to enjoy Spire soon! |
| TWG_Prometheus12-31-07, 12:57 PM | Nothing remotely official at all, but when I looked at the modules themselves (rather than any LG adaptation of course) I was assuming that Spire would be APL 4 and Fortress would be APL 6. I'd be happier if I was wrong though! |
| TimRat01-01-08, 09:38 PM | ya fortress will be APL 9 as that fits in line with what i've done in the past. there are some very tough encounters, no way an APL 6 party could handle thats for sure. |
| TetsujinOni01-02-08, 09:27 AM | Yeah, but Barrow lies through its teeth when it says that it's appropriate for second level characters. APL4 and APL5 in two parts is what it is. It's almost long enough to want the RHoD clause in the adventure, to boot. |

I don't think it is lying through its teeth. The problem is with how LG generally handles leveling and treasure, not how the mod works. A 2nd level character in a home game will go to 4th or 5th during the mod and have more treasure than the average 4th level LG character(simply because they don't have to sell things they want, then buy them back) I played a 2nd level character through the mod and contributed heavily throughout. The problem for me was that early on in the 2nd AR, I would have been 4th level in a home game, but I was stuck at 3rd because of LG. An extra caster level and spell per day would have made a big difference. |
| solbergb01-04-08, 04:49 PM | The bizzare thing about Barrow is the plotline indicates that you should do it all in one gulp, but the level range and assumptions seem to indicate multiple visits with leveling between assaults. I wonder what the bad guys who precede you are doing with all that extra time... We did it with a level 4ish party and did it all in one day (with the leveling and stuff in the middle helping recover resources a little, but not much) and it was very challenging. |
