| Herne2205-12-06, 08:08 PM | My 4th-level Ranger took a wrong turn in January, 2004, and vanished from the face of the Oerth, until just last week -- which is a poetic way of saying that circumstances suddenly prevented me from playing LG for 2½ years. Last week, I found a local group. Well, semi-local. It's only an hour away. But, hey! It's LG time again! In reviewing what has happened while Ranger Tarl has been lost and while I've been comatose, I discovered that every character in Living Greyhawk went through a conversion in March, 2005 -- which Ranger Tarl and I missed, for obvious reasons. If I understand the rules correctly, I've got to fill out a conversion sheet and get it approved by a DM before Ranger Tarl can go adventuring again. Here's my concern: It has been so long since everyone else went through this that the DM I find may not remember what's going on with the conversion thing. Sometimes people in that position try to save themselves some embarrassment and simply invent a rule on the spot -- like, "Sorry, it's too late, Ranger Tarl is dead." I would hate to see that happen to Ranger Tarl. He is not supposed to die a virgin. What do I do if something like this happens? or if the DM simply says, "I can't remember how this works"? For the record, there is nothing exotic about Ranger Tarl or his equipment. I went through the process of filling out the conversion sheet, and he came out the other side looking exactly like he did going in, carrying the exact same stuff, and just as rich (or poor, depending on how you look at it). Thanks for any help you've got for me. |

If you need help with conversion ask here. The conversion sheet is only your stats, classes and items bought and sold. If you fill that out a judge should sign the paper. If they don't sign the paper just leave a space for the conversion sheet in your AR stack and get it signed by a different judge. I can't imagine you will have any problem with the conversion sheet and there aren't any mistakes you can make on the actually conversion that aren't fixable wit help from the traid. |

During conversion - even if you don't have any rules items which no-longer exist or have changed because of the 3.0 -> 3.5 changes, you can rebuild your character from scratch. I used it to replace Mounted Combat, which I soon realised was a poor choice of feat for my Cleric of Pelor (!) with Rapid Reload. Other people's changes were more drastic! But generally, unless you have PrCs, feats or items which only exist in the 3.0 'Builder Books' or which changed price or pre-reqs or whatever, it's a case of filling in a form and getting it signed. Oh, and you can sell one item back at full price, if you decide you don't want it any more. Welcome back :D |

Thanks for any help you've got for me. the 595 conversion document is still available on the living greyhawk page of the rpga campaigns on the wotc server. so just download it, look what you have to or want to change and fill out the included conversion ar, any dm should be willing to sign it. especcially with a 4th lvl character (very unlikely that there are any of the real nasty thingies on your character). ciao martin m. |
