If a PrC stacks with Paladin levels to determine stats of the Paladin mount, can a Paladin 2/Class X/ Cavalier 1 (for example), summon a mount for 6 hours per day (equivalent Paladin 3) or would the Cavalier need to reach 3rd level in the class (equivalent Paladin 5) or is this impossible unless the character has Paladin 5?

Well, to address the character in question, he would summon his mount exactly like a Paladin 3...Which is to say, he couldn't yet summon a mount :D And in general, the ability is the same "special mount" ability as the paladin, so a Paladin 2/Class X/Cavalier 3 could summon a mount....You'd just have to wait until you had 5 levels in Paladin and "Paladin-Stacking Classes" before you could do it, and then you're fine...

Just because it stacks with paladins doesn't mean that you get the abilities from advancing in paladin with it. so though it says that your mount gets extra HD as you level in that pclass you first have to get that mount from the paladin levels before doing it.
