Any spells that come out in the latest book are always considered the most up to date ones and are used going forward. We can't have 2 versions of spells floating around and thus is why the spell compendium will be the latest version of the spells that have been updated.

suggestions to the LGCS can be made when the thread goes up in a few days (i believe days)

Tim,

Posts like this rock the RPGA world, and as such probably shouldn't be hidden in the middle of some other discussion.

Are you saying that is has always been standard practice to use the most recent version of a spell, even if that updated spell is published in nonsource material?

Does this mean that as soon as any book comes out, I must buy it immediately to see how my spells work now? Should I be looking at the Races of Eberron book or the newest Forgotten Realms suppliment to see if they somehow changed the way Prayer works?

I'm just wondering, actually. This seems like the kind of thing that should be in big bold letters somewhere in the LGCS document. Are you sure you are speaking for the Circle when making this post?

Well, to the extent of updating the sourcing information in the LGCS to reflect it, yeah.

I think you're reading more into Tim's statement than he meant. I read it to mean, "when updated versions of spells become available, we'll switch to those versions with the next LGCS update." You seem to be reading it as, "the moment any WotC book comes out, that is now the official LG version of the spell, even if not announced by the Circle as such."

Unless the LGCS says "use this different version", I wouldn't get so crazy-worried about it.

ya kenobi is right. most of the time when a book such as the spell compendium comes out that changes a LOT of spells then that book will be the one that we use.

for other books that come out (and quite honestly more than likely surprise us) that have changes it will be a case by case basis and you'll see it updated on the website and such.

Info on the Spell Compendium is now up on the main RPGA Site in the latest Dispell Confusion.
Go here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/lgif/20060119a) and read it, then get angry when you realize you have to buy this book even if you already own all the complete books you ever thought you needed!

(I know, I know, but I couldn't resist that last comment.) ;)
