| jeffpicard01-25-06, 03:15 PM | A few locals have mentioned they'd like something different, and when someone suggested they'd done LG somewhere before they moved to the area, I sugested I could see what it would take to start up here. There's a Ton of stuff to read through though, and some of it (such as the campain standards) we can all go through at once for detail (I've skimmed to get basics to point out, and will read in full before we do go through) but my main concern is what's the best overall starting point, I basically want to get 6 people get everyone a character made and start the next time we can meet, scheduling the first session at that point. I've already got my Herald level, and can give everyone that doesn't have one a number then. I also would like to know just how much of a delay to predict to everyone when we do get started |

Order the LG introductory placeholder. Then e-mail the triad the event code to get whatever intro mods they got the best player feedback from (there are usually 2-4 intro mods to choose from) Tell them you are a new GM running a game for all new players. They will likely have good suggestions that will give your game more depth. In general I always recommend people play regional mods first because if the players end up getting hooked and want to play more often then there are local games they can play cores online. |
| jeffpicard01-26-06, 04:40 PM | Thaniks, I did want to start off with regional and see how much we wanted to expand later, so I'll be scheduling and e-mailing when I've had a chance to discuss with the players who've shown interest more detail. How much lead time minimum should I plan for between my conversation with them (later this week) and our first session though? is there an additional approval delay? further I have a location query. Tis group typically plays at our local shop, as it's fairly central for everyone involved, and enables the larger group to shift people back and forth when necessary or after a significat time. I'll be running this on a different day (as I'll need the mor consistent sized group, and don't want to conflict... this is an addition, not a change) If I schedule it "retail" and play at the shop, will I run into problems like not being able to lock the players, and having to basically go first people who show up each session are it, or any other factor that would make it wiser to pick a house that may be a further drive for half of us and scheduling it as home? None of the documents I see define retail as a venue option, just Convention, Game Day and Home; yet it is listed as an option in the scheduler. |
| redgamer01-27-06, 09:18 AM | Gamedays and homegames are held where ever they need to be run. If you have a gameday you are supposed to allow random people to play but if you advertise the game poorly or have 6 people reserve their spot before hand then newcomers are out of luck. |
| paigeoliver01-27-06, 05:17 PM | If you are going to have a regular gameday then you can set it up on Warhorn.net as a recurring gameday, then BEFORE you open the game up for sign up you can talk to all your regular players to see who is coming, and then sign them up yourself before allowing public signup. Then turn on the public signup and allow whoever signs up to fill up the remaining seats. More people than that can sign up, but they are automatically "waitlisted", which usually means they probably aren't going to get a seat. |
