There are plenty of programs available that do it for you, but if they came that way it would save a lot of hassle...if it's even possible to have them come that way... |

| berpo07-10-07, 08:52 AM | Good idea... |
| Mattastrophic07-10-07, 10:03 AM | Fourth-ded. Especially since AFAIK all it takes to allow copy-pasting is to just check one box. -Matt |

| JJeff07-10-07, 09:11 PM | I think there's the copyright issue to consider. the RPGA does not want non-authorised reproduction of their adventures at all. Just because it makes running online easier doesn't mean they can open the door to blatant copies of their adventures being sold in another form, under another name. But if that isn't a problem, Sixth-ed! |
| myshkingfh07-10-07, 11:29 PM | If we do that they can sue us, just like they would if we scanned it. Seventhed! |
| Jay_Ibero_91107-11-07, 12:35 AM | At this point I'm wondering why they are locked to begin with. I wish an official would pop in here and let us know if this request is even possible... |
| clannagh07-11-07, 12:41 AM | I never realised you couldnt cut and paste from mods as I run the full Acrobat and the Acrobat text touch up tool allows selecting, cutting and pasting without a problem. But clearly that feature is not available for people just running Acrobat Reader which must be really annoying. |

| bitznarf07-11-07, 01:45 AM | I run Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro myself, and I can't copy and paste out of many mods. Some I can, some I can't. Some campaign documents I can, some I can't. |

But if that isn't a problem, Sixth-ed! If you have the mod in question in hand to begin with, you can already print out copies or e-mail the PDF all over the place if you really wanted to be naughty. Being able to cut and paste won't make breaking copyright any easier. The only use for cut-n-paste, really, is for dropping text blocks into areas that can't just display PDFs, like chatrooms when running online. As it stands, in order to be able to cut and paste, American RPGA judges must run the file through a decryption program to break the encoding that prevents copying. This can be interpreted as a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. I'd really rather not have to break the law to be able to effectively use my LGCS-given right to run Core mods online! -karma |

Same with me, I was wondering what the problem was until I worked it out that reader didn't let you affect it. |
| Donald_Cannith07-13-07, 12:44 PM | i back thism otion whole-heartedly. If the yare that worried they should add an onlineoption when ordering asndh aveo nlythose copy-pastable |

Here's other copy-protection issues I've run into: 1) Loading a map in Photoshop, so I can remove DM information and print it out to scale rather than draw the map. You can directly load a page from a PDF into Photoshop, unless it's copy-protected. 2) Creating a "cheat sheet" to streamline a tricky encounter which wasn't well explained in the mod. I needed to copy and paste from a couple different pages to put everything relevant on a single sheet. 3) Writing a mod, I tried to duplicate one of the preexisting mobs in the new stat block format from a previous mod, so I could make minor edits. Didn't work. Put me down as strongly in favor of removing copy-protection on the mods. |
