:noway: Denial
What?! they can't possibly be getting rid of Living Greyhawk. It's the center of D&D!
 Anger
Those modrons at WotC and the RPGA do not have a clue. They are ruining the game. It can't possibly survive; the whole hobby is going to the Lowest Layer of the Abyss in a handbasket.
 Bargaining
OK, just give us some more time to finish Living Greyhawk. Maybe let us have both LG and that other campaign. Just don't take my third edition away from me.
:raincloud Depression
I am so bummed. I'm never going to enjoy D&D without LG. There is absolutely no joy left in Oerth.
:surrender Acceptance
So, when can we get our hands on the books to start designing new characters for Living Forgotten Realms anyway?

I want to thank everyone involved in the campaign. It has been a great run. I'm going to dwell on the all the enjoyment and camaraderie I had over the years playing Living Greyhawk. Thanks for the memories.

I plan on throwing one hell of a going away party. So long, my old friend.

Very, very true.

* I was in total denial about 4E last Thursday.

* Then I was ****** beyond words about 4E AND the loss of Greyhawk.

* After that I started looking for ways to keep playing and not lose my beloved character (a gnome bard, no way either of those are going to survive into 4E :()

* Then the melancholy set in...

* Now I see my chance to get in on LR and a Living campaign in year 1 instead of stumbling in on year 6 and trying to play catch-up with people's level 12s.

Day 1 I was very distracted at work and at home, thinking about how I'd adjust if the leaks were true. I didn't have much of the denial stage, it had the stamp of authenticity. I was more going into "bargaining"

Day 2 My wife found out about it and we talked it over. All the thinking I'd done helped clarify why I wasn't more upset. We figured out who we'd play more, who we'd "retire" early and what our stance on intro mods was going to be (we're addicted, we'll still play them for their own sake)

I was most of the way to acceptance there. Then the zero TU's for next year came out and I was happier, hoping I could make time to travel a lot.

Then my work schedule finally solidified this year and I saw I could squeeze in some travel I didn't think I could do....so I jumped at the chance to get a bit more play in my favorite characters in a region I'd visited before and was not "done" with. Then I had TU troubles. (resolved primarily by not doing a retrain I wanted to do...more play is more important!)

Net net, I'm going to do more RPGA gaming this year than I would have without the announcement, and will almost certainly do more next year.

2009 is a big question mark, but....I'm already starting to get curious about the 4x mechanics. Hopefully they won't suck :) If they're pretty good, I'll probably actually be pretty excited by 2009, having gamed until my brains were running out my ears in 2008 and retired (by character story, not by hitting level 16 in most cases, possibly all cases) all of my LG characters gracefully.

So...what's past acceptance? Excitement?

Not quite there yet. Too many unknowns still - the Circle announcement on 2007-8 coming out soon will quell some, seeing the 4x PHB will answer others and revelation of the campaign structure for Living Realms will answer the rest. The latter two could dampen my acceptance, even drive me out of RPGA gaming if done really badly. But they won't spoil my 2007-8 gaming.

Some things are better when you can't take them for granted.

I personally spent my first day straight away at the Depression stage, then proceeded to Acceptance. I guess that means I'm used to life punching me int he face. :P

I had :

1) deja vu

Oh dear .. hear we go again.

2) relief .. i had been considering playing less D&D and putting more time into my real interest area WWII gaming (Flames of War and I may also return to my old online WWII Squadron and start trying to win the war flying a FW190 for the Reich again) so this gave me a perfect time frame and motivation to do so.

3) Freedom no more feeling like I should write more mods, run more games for the locals, attend more events
