I've been thinking about the leadership feat, but I'd like some help on how this plays out in LG. First off, I know there are some mods that give you access to cohorts of various stat builds. But I also know you can build one from scratch. I don't like this idea, though, because I get signifacantly less points to make said cohort with. Here's my dilema. I would love to have a paladin of Heironeous at my side to protect my church inquisitor character. I cast spells, he kills stuff. If I want that exactally, which is the ideal situation, I have to start him at 21 points (correct me if I'm wrong) and he then starts at my leadership score, which is level 7. I've seen that some mod-gotten cohorts have higher stats to start with, which is nice, but I can't rely on me getting a paladin of my deity any time soon. My other question is, how will my cohorts equipment be determined? Can I let him use my nice +2 adamantine longsword each time we start a game, or does he not get to use my equipment? And can he buy his own stuff or not? |

And can he buy his own stuff or not? Start your build with 22 points. I don't have the lgcs in front of me but that was the key number when I made my cohort. If I remember right, the gold piece cap is the gold piece cap for an NPC Paladin in the DMG(p120.) Add up all the equipment in its worth and any other coin for a seventh level paladin. You can buy stuff that any character can buy in the Lgcs plus the stuff that the NPC Paladin had in its equipment list in the DMG. Remember, your cohort has a gold piece cap. That cap is the total you had adding up all the equipment plus any coin for a seventh level paladin in the DMG. That cap raises up each time your cohort gains a level. To circumvent this rule, you can give your cohort magical items off of your main character. Also, remember the rule that all your stuff returns to each character at the end of the mod. So, you might want to tell the DM you are doing this before each game. Most people don't do this, the DM is on a need to know basis in most games according to each player I've seen. The reason I got a cohort is because Clerics are rare where I play. I got tired of not having Cleric around so I got one myself. I have used him in eleven mods for the past year and a quarter. ;) |
