| Redfist02-22-08, 12:20 PM | I kind of have to agree with others on this one. When people were complaining earlier about "expecting" results from RPGA and becoming impatient about the release of ADPs, I was in the camp of "dude - give it a break, they'll come out when they come out". Hearing that the ADPs have been **DONE** and submitted and merely waiting for someone to actually spend a few minutes to put them on the website is starting to push me to the other camp. What is so hard about posting already finished works? I really just don't get it anymore. The time delta is becoming inexcusable. Many viewed ending LG as a slap in the face of their player base. I personally don't although it does annoy me. However, seeing this *apparent* lack of respect being paid to the LG players *especially* in light of the fact that they're already ending the campaign seems to be just a horrible move politically akin to rubbing salt in the wounds of a player (customer) base. I just don't get it. color me... frustrated. |
| MwaO02-22-08, 12:47 PM | What I don't get is why they'd have this problem in the first place. The faster they post this, the more people pay for a mod that WotC is going to have to eat if people don't buy it. Or they'll have to deal with unhappy retailers holding onto obsolete product. If there were this kind of delay on a free mod, I might comprehend some kind of corporate malice, but this just seems like someone doesn't understand that 5 minutes of posting a tiny ADP goes right to the bottomline. And that just seems stupid. |
| Redfist02-22-08, 02:40 PM | True - I'm not buying the store-bought products until I can actually order the ADP and download it (preferably after I play it). Their delay only serves to delay revenue. *shrug* |

Their delay only serves to delay revenue. *shrug* Only on the part of the retailer from whom you may (or may not) be buying the module. WotC has likely long since gotten the money from the stock that's sitting at your FLGS. Even if a large number of LG players run out and buy a module once the ADP comes out, WotC may never really be able to "connect the dots" and see a revenue bump that'd be directly attributed to that. If a bunch of FLGSs sell out their copies of a module, they then might place replenishment orders with their distributor. If the *distributor* then runs low on stock, they *might* place a new order for that module with WotC. |
| MwaO02-22-08, 03:33 PM | Even if a large number of LG players run out and buy a module once the ADP comes out, WotC may never really be able to "connect the dots" and see a revenue bump that'd be directly attributed to that. It isn't a question of whether or not WotC can see a direct revenue bump or not - the point is that either they and/or retailers will surely make more money for WotC doing this than they would for a free Core mod. And they ought to take the exact same amount of time, money, and effort to put up...and there are definitely some retailers that can push back(B&N and Amazon as examples) if they get stuck with too much product. |
| Redfist02-22-08, 03:59 PM | I understand how distribution works - I work for a distributor. Eventually, demand (or lack thereof) does make it back to the vendor either through returns, rebates or retailers less willing to invest in inventory. |

I don't dispute that. What I was noting was Redfist saying "this is delaying revenue"...and that the chain of distribution is long enough that arguing to WotC "because you've delayed getting this ADP file posted, you've delayed making money" isn't a straightforward argument. |
| Puggle Halfwine02-23-08, 02:44 AM | Basically, here's the situation. A local group wants to play the two "new" adaptables with a table of characters who are quickly out-levelling them. Right now, at least one person is playing down for half- and nearly out of range entirely. Due to the campaign winding up there's no point starting new characters for 'em. It's now or never. Please, please. Post the adaptables. Or at least mail them out to anyone who asks. It'd take less time than me writing this post. |
| Timlagor02-29-08, 11:21 AM | Can we bring up that old accountants' favourite: "Goodwill"? Oops :) |
| Puggle Halfwine03-01-08, 07:40 AM | Tim! I promise I'll make you a minor acolyte in the cult of Britt if you just post the new adaptables! PLEASE! Think of the power! The POWER! |
| Greyson03-03-08, 11:56 AM | I missed the first part of the RPGA meeting at D&DXP. But, I did hear Chris Tulach say that The Sinister Spire "had some issues." Despite those issues, he indicated it shall be available for play soon (perhaps two or three weeks), as well as Fortress of the Yuan-ti and Expedition to Castle Greyhawk. The latter, however, may not be available as an Adapted until June. Don (Greyson) Nyrond Triad |
| chesspiece03-03-08, 03:46 PM | Any mention of APLs for those ADPs? |
| Greyson03-04-08, 01:05 PM | Any mention of APLs for those ADPs? I don't think so. I missed the first few minutes of the meeting. But, I don't think APLs were mentioned. I am guessing that The Sinister Spire shall be APL 6 or APL 7. We should know in a couple of weeks, though. |
