Since trapsmith & kobolds are now LG legal.. perhaps we can work together to make a list of potential traps...

Example:

Pinnata
Parts: ?Exotic Crossbow?, climbers kit, Harpoon, Rope (varying length)..
Tactic: Using a the rope as a tow line on the harpoon, which is loaded into the ?Exotic Crossbow? as amunition. Climb directly above the triger point, conceling and securing the rope along the way... Place a guard at the end of the rope. assuming the trapspringer is struck by the harpoon, and the harpoon "sticks".. the guard hoists the target into the air, and fastens his end of the roap to a cleat on the wall.

Bloody Pinnata
Parts: (as Pinnata) + Rocks, Net, Rope
Tactic: (as Pinnata) + BUT.. Trigger a secondary trap.. falling rocks (held above inside the net), the Rocks & net form a counterwieght to automaticly hoiste the harpooned target into the air.. The rocks will collide with the subject either on the ground(if the harpoon missed/did not stick) or mid flight if the target is stuck to the end of the harpon.

Notes:

Harpoon Stick DC = 10+ damage dealt, carefully removing a harpoon requires a full round action (with both hands) and a heal check DC 15, otherwise they suffer the initial harpoon damage again.

?Exotic Crossbow? = I can't remember the weapon name, no books infront of me, it typically shoots javelins but there whould be no problem firing a harpoon.

Interesting, but most judges will probably limit you to the few booby traps in the class description.

Actually, "Pinnata" is the standard crossbow trap.. just replacing the standard crossbow with the exotic one.. and "hiding" the rope that is attached to the harpoon.. (with i guess is a second deviation from the norm)..

I like the Net-o-Doom (tm) trap.

Step 1: Take a large net and string it along the ceiling of a room.

Step 2: Connect the net to a tripwire that is just in front of the door (depending on swing).

Step 3: Fill net with heavy objects taken from the surrounding area.

Step 4: Wait for clumsy adventurers/monsters to set off trap dropping objects on themselves and their allies.

Best use for a PC Trapsmith:

When needing to rest, and not leave a dungeon, find a defensible room that is connected to a smaller antechamber. Set up Net-o-Doom in antechamber, and rest in defensible room. The trap should wake up the party if any curious monsters come snooping around.

Sonic Step:

Basicly you put a Thunderstone under a rug, or if in a cave you put a rock at a angle so when some one steps on it, the stone pushs and hits into the Thunderstone, setting it off.

Not sure if GMs will accept this, since I'm still new to RPGA, but the DM I've played with accepted that the rock was able to strike the Thunderstone with enough force to set it off.

This is useful when your party is trying to sleep and doesn't want to be surprised. Not only do you deafen the opponent you can have time to grab your gear and sneak up on them while they are deaf :D.

Alchemist fire also works pretty well.
Just make sure its a 5-ft entry way where you put it, or a large seesaw rock.
