| happosaai06-15-07, 11:18 AM | Hi all, I'm going to be in the Geoff region (Washington DC specifically) next weekend (22 - 25 June) and was hoping to find a game I could join in while I'm there. Traveling with the S.O. and while she's at a conference in D.C. I'm hoping to enjoy myself with a bit of LG action *grin* I've checked the Geoff site for gameplay locations but was unsuccessful at finding one :-( http://www.gyruff.org/index.php I was hoping someone here would be able to point me to a game location inside of Alexandria, VA or DC during the weekend of 22 June. Also, sent an email to the local triad to see if they might be able to assist in finding a game also... basically just trying to cover all my bases and be able to join in the fun that weekend (if any games are available) |

Just finished my first AR on my first RPGA character, was quite fun I must say :-) I actually have a request to join the Geoff yahoo group pending now as well. thanks for that idea! |

I travel a lot, and I like to find LG events in cities that I'm visiting. My first step is to check the LGCS to find the campaign region corresponding to the location I'm visiting. In this case, Verbobonc is the region for Illinois. My second step is to check my list of contacts for LG players in that region. I'll call up a buddy and ask. I check on the region's Web site, as listed in the LGCS. Sometimes, they have a list of upcoming conventions. I can also contact the region's Triad POC to ask if there are any conventions or public game days coming up in the area and time I'll be traveling. I also go to the Yahoo! group for that region (as listed in the LGCS) and post a note requesting a game, telling when I'll be in town, what I'm interested in playing (usually regionals and metaregionals), and what APL range I can support. When I remember it, I also include a link to my Nyrond.org entry giving my play history so someone thinking of organizing a game for me will know what games I've already played: <http://www.onyxgate.com/turbine/player?user=161408>. However, just posting a note in a Yahoo! group rarely finds a game. I look for people who have organized games in that area in the past. Sometimes, I can find them in the Yahoo! group, and sometimes I can find them with the RPGA event calendar, <http://events.wizards.com/rpgaweb/external/calendar.asp>. But I can also use my favorite search engine (Google) to search for "Chicago" and limit my search to events.wizards.com; this gives a list of games that have been organized there in the past, with the name and e-mail address of the people who did the organizing. Sending e-mail to these people often gets results. |
