| post_ironic07-26-05, 04:54 PM | i'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this or mentioned it on the boards, but there's an inconsistency in the complete divine. on p 78, the table says that true believer provides a +3 to one save daily, whereas on p 86 it says that it grants only a +2. which is it? the feat isn't particularly amazing (especially compared to much of whats out there) and its a prerequisite for the pious templar class. should my campaign keep running with the +3, since we feel we should compensate and at least maximize this mediocre feat? further, as true believer grants those who have taken the feat the ability to wield sacred relics, when will we see any in LG? are there any plans amongst you LG writers out there to put forth any mods containing relic access, or will we have to write our triads for special permission? what about relics for followers of more obscure deities? |

Personally I would never even consider putting them in my modules . S.H, Ahlissa (Naerie) webslave |
| Timlagor07-27-05, 12:43 AM | I thought I'd seen something to the effect that Relics wouldn't be appearing in LG. Many PrCs have require Feats that are otherwise very poor to useless. (cf Mage of the Arcane Order) As already stated proper text supercedes tables and summaries except where teh Faq/Errata say otherwise. (I think there is one instance but can't remember what) |
| post_ironic07-27-05, 04:15 PM | thanks for the help. i agree that while the prereq is weak, the PrC compensates for it. as for the relic access, it seems to me that a major campaign flavor function of the PT is negated as a result. i understand that powerful relics would probably end up being abused by questionable gamers, but what about minor relics? historically, there were tons of small relics in the middle ages, and they were greatly coveted by crusaders or "true believers" of whatever faith. couldn't the same apply to pious templars? otherwise it'd be far simpler (and potentially better) to just make a paladin or a fighter/cleric that is particularly dedicated to his patron deity. isn't the PT one of the "chosen few" representatives of his particular religion? oh well. looks like my character will just buy a better weapon rather than hold out for one with in-game divine significance. |

My Ftr4/Clr2/Tmp4 has made good use of it in multiple situations. Most of them being "save or die" scenarios. And sometimes it's just nice to have that +2 buffer for something like that. Or stacked with Mettle from Templar, I put a quite the damper on high level evil cleric trying to hit me with a maximized inflict critical wounds so his friend the spring attacking dread wraith can come up and shake my hand. But most times I use it for my reflex saves which are just phenomenal. |
| redgamer08-12-05, 08:46 PM | I think you mispoke. You would certaintly be the strangest Ftr/Clr/Tmp I've seen if your reflex save was phenomenal (phenomonal=good) you must have an amazing dex :D (All 3 of those classes have poor reflex saves) I'm personally under the impression that True Believer to be quite useful, its just a matter of knowing when to use it. But I'm sure if i got my cleric friend's Protection domain add-on, then it'd be up around where my other saves are now. |
