| LGMoses02-03-07, 04:48 AM | what does your group do to determine if a noise/disturbance wakes a pc? |
| SgtHulka02-03-07, 10:14 AM | I allow a listen check at -10. Alternatively, I allow characters that are awake to use a standard action to wake adjacent characters. |

I concur; the Listen penalty/action is described under that skill, and the action is described under the sleep spell* -- No reason not to use either of those... * not the best place for it, I'll admit; but then, we know there's a lot of that in the rules |
| LGMoses02-03-07, 01:18 PM | I allow a listen check at -10. Alternatively, I allow characters that are awake to use a standard action to wake adjacent characters. I somehow looked over the listen at -10 thing in the phb but amazingly thats what I already did. I also allowed the standard action to awaken a sleeping character. |
| Britt02-03-07, 01:22 PM | I just yell as loudly as I can. It's pretty hard to miss that listen check, probably DC -10, with a -10 to Listen for being asleep, an effective DC 0. Remember, once battle actually starts, it's a DC -10 to hear it, for an effective DC 0, with no action from the party members. The sleep spell seems to only allow one way of waking a character, a standard action. |
| LGMoses02-03-07, 01:27 PM | we had a dm that did something with percentile dice or something. We were all screaming in the barbarians ear but he wouldn't wake up. |
| Morgen02-03-07, 02:14 PM | Yeah, that's why you don't house rule LG games. |
| SgtHulka02-03-07, 03:17 PM | I just yell as loudly as I can. It's pretty hard to miss that listen check, probably DC -10, with a -10 to Listen for being asleep, an effective DC 0. Correct, and iirc yelling is a free action. I included the standard action thing b/c there are times you don't want to make a lot of noise, you may be in a Silence spell, or there may be other situations where a Listen Check won't actually wake someone up. |
| LGMoses02-03-07, 03:58 PM | Yeah, that's why you don't house rule LG games. yeah, it wasn't an LG game. i would have flipped had it been. |
| Puggle Halfwine02-04-07, 09:24 AM | This is one of the reasons a first level dip into Nightsong Enforcer is good (aside from +1 BAB and +1d6 sneak attack!). +20 to listen and spot checks against friendlies. If you have +5 to listen, your sentry standing watch only has to whisper "Wake up." and you can hear him while sleeping (this is because it's a DC 25 listen check with a +20 bonus). |
| _m_02-04-07, 06:37 PM | easy, simply have a party with a holy liberator. no1 needs to sleep then (except getting spells ofc). |
| trollbill02-05-07, 04:04 PM | I like having a character with a listen check so good he is more likely to hear the enemy sneaking up on the party while he is sleeping than the PCs on watch do. Unfortunately, I usually have to remind DMs that I should be allowed a listen check when I am sleeping as most only give them to PCs on watch. |
| _m_02-05-07, 05:09 PM | bat familiars make for kinda rediculous night watches. empathetic link, +rediculous to listen, blindsense. |
