The UMD (Wand) thread got me wondering: I have a UMD bard who's managed to find a couple of wands (luckily). I'd like him to get several more, but I'm not certain how many I'll be able to find. How often have people been able to find good wands? Especially things like Scorching Ray, Fireball, Magic Missile (at, maybe, 5th or 7th level caster), Grease, etc.? Has anyone ever noticed a type of adventure in which wands are more common to appear? (Core investigative mods? Regional dungeon crawls? Core specials? Etc. -- not asking anyone to spoil anything.)

The specific spells you listed are probably APL 8-14, with a slight hope in APL 6. I can't say I've ever seen those wands, except for Magic Missile at 1st, but I haven't played that many games...As a hint? There's certain mods that reccommend that if you're a certain thing- you should play it. Which is usually mostly regional games...that being said, look for ones that recommend a meta-org of spellcasters, or just spellcasters in general...

But that's just common sense

Well, out of the 7 ARs my Sorcerer has gotten, the following Wand access has appeared:

APL2 - Wand of Cause Light Wounds
Wand of Cure Light Wounds
APL8 - Wand of Enlarge Person
Wand of Magic Missiles (5th level effect)

That's not too bad as far as frequency goes.

Oh, yeah, Wand of Enlarge Person is pretty sweet. But APL8 is still a ways off for my character...

Then don't expect Fireball or anything like that anytime soon. ;)

Wand of Lesser Restoration will save your bacon many times.

I got access to a Wand of Lessor Vigor recently. I bought it even though I can't use it because it's actually better than a Wand of CLW after combat since you always get 11 HP's back.

Right now, my character has a Wand of Lesser Vigor and regional access to Wands of Color Spray.

What's Lesser Restoration do?

What's Lesser Restoration do?

Lesser restoration dispels any magical effects reducing one of the subject’s ability scores or cures 1d4 points of temporary ability damage to one of the subject’s ability scores. It also eliminates any fatigue suffered by the character, and improves an exhausted condition to fatigued. It does not restore permanent ability drain.

It's nice, but temporary ability damage comes back on its own in time. What Lesser Restoration lets you do is remove that damage immediately, so it's not gimping you for the rest of the module. Ability drain, on the other hand, is much nastier, in that doesn't come back on its own, and requires a full Restoration to restore.
