Page 14 of Complete Arcane says it must be a wizard spell of the Evocation school. The only spell in the PHB that the warmage lacks is Tensor's Floating Disk. A quick review of the Spell compendium shows that there is not a single evocation spell that is core... This means when my warmage turns 3rd level he is forced to take tensor's floating disk. Am I missing a valid spell or is there some other solution? Pat Smith |

You can use it as a 3' step. A party member can use it as 'free' transport. If they stand upon it, they move 'free' with you, without using any 'move equivalent'. They also get the +1 modifier for 'higher ground'. All that heavy treas....errr, 'salvage' can easily be transported by TFD. The list goes on................ Why would you choose anything else? Leomund's Tiny Hut is another (almost) no-brainer for 6th lvl Warmages. With 2 hr/lvl duration, lasts long enough for parties to rest up in total concealment & acceptable temperature range. Perfect for Bright Sands. With the concealment - they can't see in, but you can see out. 11th Lvl is a problem - Blistering Radiance is excellent spell, especially since you add edge/extra edge each round, but I still favour tenser's Floating Disk, Greater. it's a Magic Carpet, with fly speed 20'/rnd, though you do have to mantain concentration to move. A platform of Force, 6' diameter, 20' up in air should give advantage against ground combatants. Cheers Paul H PS Thanks for the lists, KJenks |
| soonerpat06-04-06, 03:34 PM | Thanks all.. I'll look over TFD one more time... I didn't look that far down the road when creating this character, which I enjoy playing. I chose warmage specifically because it fit his personality of seeking glory in the battle, and so it fit the character better to be always adding, shall we say, confrontational spells. I also posted this on BK's yahoo group (my region) and got a reply suggesting a special mission mod... I may seek that as well to gain access to a single spell at third level. The character is just starting so it will likely be 5-6 more adventures before I must face this choice. Ken, thanks also from me for the spell lists... pat smith |
