| RtrnofdMax09-06-07, 11:38 AM | So suppose I want to add a spell that's not on the Open list to my Warmage's spell list as part of Eclectic/Advanced Learning. How is access handled? For a Wizard, I know they just come across a spellbook and then they can copy the spell to their book. But suppose I find a 1st level spell that is NONC when I am a 2nd level Warmage and I want to add it to my list once I reach 3rd level. Do I copy it to a spellbook and then I can treat that spellbook as my study material for Advanced/Eclectic Learning? Do I just have to gain access to the spell on the same AR that I level? It seems kind of dumb that I wouldn't be able to add a spell that meets the prereqs for learning because I didn't get access at the right time. Now that I think about it, how do Sorcerers add NONC spells? Please advise. |

This goes for all casters. |

You either have to: (A) Buy the spellbook/scroll and carry it with you until the time you level or (B) Have a favor that specifically states you may "learn" the spell, rather than having access to scribe it to your own spellbook. Spontaneous casters have been quite screwed by this wording setup for some time, since the vast majority of spell access has come as a favor allowing Wizards to "copy X spells from High-Level NPC #3's spellbook" rather than the opportunity to "Learn" said spell. |
