| Morgen12-28-06, 08:24 PM | Could we please get into consideration some way of becoming a Kobold similar to how the centaur were allowed into the campaign? Not asking for carte blanc kobold access or anything, but perhaps another core intro mod with a special cert that gives access to a band of kobolds. Though nothing that's only available at Gencon... We totally want to have kobolds roaming all over the place! Though maybe we'd be better off making a new RPGA campaign world. Living Kobold...hmmm... LK, I like. |
| ShinAkuma212-28-06, 08:58 PM | Why are people so gung-ho about being kobolds? Goblins, I could understand...but kobolds? |
| Arvagor12-28-06, 09:50 PM | Could we please get into consideration some way of becoming a Kobold similar to how the centaur were allowed into the campaign? You mean hamfistedly, by orders of the RPGA, without actually asking the Circle whether it would be a good idea? |
| budleiser12-28-06, 10:39 PM | You mean hamfistedly, by orders of the RPGA, without actually asking the Circle whether it would be a good idea? RPGA forced Centaurs into LG without circle approval? |
| Puggle Halfwine12-28-06, 11:37 PM | Vote #1 for Kobolds. |
| Morgen12-29-06, 12:02 AM | Wait? Are you saying that if we complain to the RPGA personally we can get our silly ideas allowed into the campaign!? *emails wizards!!!…!!!!!!* !!!! I don't know of any good reason not to allow kobolds as a race. I mean, we already allow halflings.... >.> Seriously though, we're just trying to drum up support for the little guys. There's at least a few good ones wondering around in the Shield Lands. |
| paigeoliver12-29-06, 02:02 AM | Why not just sneak them in by writing a module that gives out a kobold COHORT. That would let the kobold freaks get one out there without inundating the games with them. I already have access to a wookie cohort (I mean, Dakon), a pixie cohort and some sort of positive undead cohort, so it isn't like it would be all that strange. |
| Japangirl12-29-06, 04:29 PM | Along with those cohorts, I have also seen a Displacer Beast cohort and a Wood Woad cohort. A Kobold would be a lot less odd than those two IMO, not that they aren't totally awesome cohorts. |
| wagnert12-29-06, 04:36 PM | In one retired Yeomany module, you had a possibility of getting a Satyr cohort. My female enchantress would have loved one. Unfortunately, the rest of the party got oppressive and blew it for all of us. That's why she added Knowledge: Nature so she can know stop it next time. |
| CrystalBlue12-29-06, 05:24 PM | Vote #2! *waves a kobold plushie around* But I can just see all of the Deekin ripoffs about to come out of the woodwork... *shivers* |
| Morgen12-30-06, 01:26 PM | To be fair there really isn't anyone every who could actually or would actually take the Displacer Beast as a cohort if they were lucky enought o make the like 6 rolls needed. |
| LGMoses12-30-06, 11:12 PM | hmm, thats a good idea. Wizards should market some classic Dnd monster plushies. I bet they'd sell. |
| Britt12-31-06, 12:49 PM | To be fair there really isn't anyone every who could actually or would actually take the Displacer Beast as a cohort if they were lucky enought o make the like 6 rolls needed. That's part of why it was allowed :p Extremely unlikely to achieve, requires a high level to take, and not nearly as effective as a custom-built cohort. But it's cool! |
| Morgen12-31-06, 01:44 PM | Yeah but what's the point of giving out something that's impossible to take? That's like giving adventure access to a Ring of Major Spell Storing or a Mirror of life trapping. Your just dangling a big shiney object infront of the PCs which is kind of a mean thing to do. :-/ |

| Britt12-31-06, 04:21 PM | Yeah but what's the point of giving out something that's impossible to take? It's not impossible to take, it's unlikely and requires a high level. Displacer beasts have an ECL 10, which means you need to be 12th level to take one. That's 4 levels of adventuring. I don't see how that equates to impossible. |

| haferka12-31-06, 09:58 PM | I have a Satyr cohort. came with my Special mission... ... a RP special mission, no access was requested. I also have access to a cool flute that summons fey creatures with a successful perform check.. :) that sounds like some cool synergy there :) |
| Morgen01-01-07, 12:15 AM | Well if you play this one mod with a character that has the proper way of finding the cohort, and actually makes the rather high DC to gain the access whose actually going to take leadership and use it... That's more what I'm saying. |
| Britt01-01-07, 12:33 AM | And I think particularly odd things like a displacer beast cohort should be exceedingly rare. I don't think everyone that plays an adventure should be able to get and want everything that's on an AR. I'm sure someone out there will get it, and it will be that much cooler because hardly anyone else has it. |
| Japangirl01-01-07, 01:06 AM | If I'd played that mod with the right character (a level 2 bard with crazy maxed diplomacy), I probably would have taken a displacer beast cohort. Just because I could. But I didn't so I can't :(. |

He just states that kobold PCs won't be introduced as part of the upcoming Greyhawk Ruins story arc. At some other point, I still fully expect them them to become a playable race. |

I'm sure someone out there will get it, and it will be that much cooler because hardly anyone else has it. I've got the Displacer Beast, and I plan to take it. If only I could find a way to make a friggin' 6 HD 10th level character with a suboptimal feat selection survive at APL 12... |
