Just saying, "I have access to thinaun" would do. To actually answer your question, the metal is described on page 136 of Complete Warrior. Essentially, a metal melee weapon made of thinaun sucks up the soul of a person who is touching it when they die. This includes the wielder of the weapon as well as anyone the weapon kills. Unless the caster of a raising spell has the weapon on hand, a person whose soul is inside a thinaun blade cannot be raised. However, if the caster has the blade, the material component cost of the spell is halved. |

Your soul sucking sword isn't going to have any effect on enemies in a Living Campaign at all. Since the bad guys are either scripted to come back or they aren't, your weapon isn't going to change that. #2. You would have to die die a minimum of five or six times without over the cap gold in order to break even on the purchase cost of even a light thinaun weapon. It isn't very likely since the modules tend to have LOTS of over the cap gold by the time you get high enough level to waste money on things like this. #3. Hope no one kills AND loots you, because then you can't be raised. |

Granted, since few people are going to own a thinaun blade chances are that you owning and using the blade is not going to have an impact on the campaign. Still, talking about "scripted" to come back is a bit harsh since I know I had to change plot-lines based on PCs actions. |
