| Slyde Shadowdart08-09-05, 01:21 AM | Hello all, I'm currently living on Oahu in Hawaii, and according to the regions list there isn't one for Hawaii. So what does this mean to me as a DM? I assume obviously that there aren't any regional modules here, so does that mean I'm stuck with only the core modules to run for my home group? Also, how would one go about starting an active region here, since there isn't one? I have recently met a guy that wants to start doing events and cons out here, and I jumped at the chance to be a part of it, but I'm worried about the lack of a "region" affecting how we set things up. I'd love any information you guys have on these questions, and thanks in advance! |

It's now been absorbed and is part of the Nyrond region, which also includes southern California, Arizona, and Utah. |
| RLWilde08-09-05, 08:53 PM | You can find the regional website at www.nyrond.org |
| Slyde Shadowdart08-10-05, 12:47 AM | Thanks for the responses so far. However, the only mention I found on the Nyrond page is that in Honolulu, there will be a games day in late August. There's no indication that Hawaii actually belongs to Nyrond. I'm not trying to pick nits here, just trying to further understand the structuring. Is it possible that they just haven't gotten around to putting it on the site? I suppose the next thing for me to do would be contact the guys running the upcoming games day. |
| Eric Anondson08-10-05, 03:56 AM | Yeah, the site should say it up front. It seems that is just an error. Hawaii really is in Nyrond. Regional adventures can only play within their region exclusively (Dual-region conventions are the exceptions). Hawaii couldn't be on the list of future game days if it wasn't... the RPGA and LG administrators wouldn't let it happen. :) |
| Slyde Shadowdart08-10-05, 11:52 AM | Right on. Actually, last night I stumbled across the site for some guys that are already gearing up to run some RPGA stuff. It looks like they're starting with a MoH game on the 27th. Hopefully I can just jump in on their effort and we'll be able to expand the Hawaii presence. Thanks again. Dan |

The Nyrond page is out of date about the areas. If you look at at the latest and greatest LGCS, it clearly includes Hawaii (HI) in the Nyrond region. |
| RLWilde08-10-05, 08:23 PM | I just sent a feedback in to the WotC website team indicating that Hawaii wasn't listed on the page used to find LG regions... I'm not sure how long that will take to fix. As for the absence on the nyrond.org page, that seems to be an oversight that's been missed a couple of times. I mentioned it on the regional email list, and a triad member responded within 5 minutes saying it would be fixed shortly. :) I forgot to mention the list earlier... I'm not sure how many people from Hawaii are on it, but if you want to join send an email to Nyrond-lw-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. Randy |
| Slyde Shadowdart08-10-05, 10:33 PM | Hey great! You guys are awesome. One of these days maybe I'll stop being clueless. :D |
| RLWilde08-11-05, 07:32 PM | Heh, well, when the clues are hard to find... I got a response back from the web team explaining that Ratik (which used to be Hawaii's region) is not an active region... |
| Eric Anondson08-11-05, 10:24 PM | That's practically a non sequitur they responded with... |
| Slyde Shadowdart08-11-05, 11:42 PM | Indeed. The level of communication going on within Wizards seems...not high. :( |
| TimRat08-16-05, 11:40 AM | hawaii is indeed nyrond. so like the others have said you can order nyrond modules and if your character chooses nyrond as the home region it would only cost you 1 tu |
| Lobotaru08-16-05, 12:19 PM | Yeah, its definitely Nyrond. Just looked it up. :) Still, I find it a little strange they would be part of Nyrond. All the other states that are part of Nyrond are hundreds of miles away from Hawaii, and on top of that there is usually a correlation between the environment of the region and the part of the real world it corresponds to. That's just my observation anyway... and yeah its part of Nyrond! :D |

That's just my observation anyway... and yeah its part of Nyrond! :D Hawaii used to have it's own region, but as I understand, it did not get enough play activity and/or available adventures. Southern California is the nearest real world area that had a region, so Hawaii was added to their region of Nyrond. |
| RLWilde08-16-05, 04:42 PM | and on top of that there is usually a correlation between the environment of the region and the part of the real world it corresponds to. I think one of next year's Nyrond story arcs is about surfing competitions along Relmor Bay, culminating in a joint Hawaii/ Southern California interactive. |
| Slyde Shadowdart08-16-05, 09:13 PM | Yeah. I can totally see why having it's own region didn't work out here. There are a couple of guys trying to get it started back up again, so me and my buddy are probably going to work with them on it. As far as: I think one of next year's Nyrond story arcs is about surfing competitions along Relmor Bay, culminating in a joint Hawaii/ Southern California interactive. No offense to surfers or anything, but LAME! |
| Lobotaru08-18-05, 12:42 PM | lol, I have a couple of words for that scenario: Krakens and Tentacles... TENTACLES oh my! :D |
| RLWilde08-19-05, 06:36 PM | I think one of next year's Nyrond story arcs is about surfing competitions along Relmor Bay, culminating in a joint Hawaii/ Southern California interactive. No offense to surfers or anything, but LAME! Sorry. Forgot to include a smiley indicating that I was joking. :) |
| Slyde Shadowdart08-19-05, 10:19 PM | Thank goodness!! :D :D |
