What is happening with the LG Journal?

I have been trying to keep up to date with the LGJ and buy what ever book it comes out in but as I look over my collection of LGJs I find that it is real hard to tell if I missed any because they don't seem to have any kind of numbering system anymore.

Can someone please tell me from the info I am providing below if I am missing any.

Going from most recent back to LGJ Issue Number 20, Fireseek 593 CY April 2003 p94, (when the numbering system seems to have ended) this is what I have.

All the infomation comes from the first page of each LGJ that I have:

- Fireseek, 594 CY, Jan/04 D/P 89

- Ready'reat 593 CY, Nov/03 D/P 114

- Playing Pieces, Oct/03 D/P 71

- Scouting the Lands of Rary the Traitor, May/03 D/P 22

Has there only been 4 LGJs since April 2003?

Just so you all know I buy what ever book it is in, cut out the LGJ
pages staple them into booklet, hole punch it and put it into a
binder then chuck the rest the book in the trash. I have looked it
over and there is not anything of interest to me in eihter of the
books it comes in. They are getting the cover pirce from me just for the LGJ.

Rick

ps: I posted this on the LG yahoo e-group but no one replied so I still don't know if I have all the LGJs or if I am missing any.

Hey, I didn't even know that there were LG Journals!

I've been trying to keep up to date while I type up my own Greyhawk Gazeteer from all available sources and journals with recent events is exactly what I'm looking for!

Can anybody point me in the right direction please?

The first five issues were only sent to RPGA members. You might try Ebay. The others are available in Dragon and Dungeon magazines.

There's an index to the LGJ on the Onwal Triad webpage. It is out of date by a few months but is pretty good.

Kewl. I wondered where the journals came from. Do they still send them to RPGA members?

I'm looking for historical updates (like the Splintered Sun article on Wizards) to keep my own gazeteer up to date.

I understand that core modules are incorporated into 'official' history and most Triads seem to have an ongoing plot, which is lost on those of us in the wrong (real life) country unless someone posts these kinds of dispatches.

I think I might go hunting for the Keoland article (unless its the same one on Wizards website) and the Bright Desert article. But mostly I'd like to know if proper historical updates are still available. The updates in Dragon or Dungeon that I've seen related to technical issues like Convention dates. I want the juicy stuff!

Nope. After the first five issues they sent the LGJ to Dragon then Dungeon magasines. The LGJ name is about to die but 'LG approved' articles will continue in Dungeon according to Erik Mona.

A good way to get the 'juicy stuff' would be to check out the regional websites for the region you're into as any background info will be there, I know that's where we post stuff here in Onnwal.

Cheers

ok ta.

Yes the Onnwal site seems to be very impressive & organised (score one for the Brits) and so are quite a few of the other regional sites.

However, some sites don't seem to post any official dispatches, not even in the forums. I'm having to check daily emails to see if the fans are talking about what is happening. In addition, I don't speak very good French or German and my friends that do find D&D to be very VERY boring.

It's my own fault for wanting a fully detailed gazeteer. I guess I'll just have to keep plugging away and trawling the Internet.

I've just found out that Nol-Daer (the keep shown on the map in Slavers!) dates back to Dungeon 13. No idea how I will get hold of that after all this time.

Thanks for the info!

Definitely check out the Onnwal site Zakharan - the list on there is very comprehensive. If you are missing anything, you should be able to see it on there.

And StevieS - your attitude is playing havoc with my psychological well-being. I shall not be able to rest until my gazeteer is complete. The world shall be mine (insert maniacal laughter).

That said, I don't need all the secrets (much as I want them), just enough to form a gazeteer entry - a physical description, brief history, and a few details of what is rumoured or known to dwell in each location, plus level & alignment of notable npcs. Is that too much to ask?

The rest I can make up if my players ever dare to visit the place.

P.S. Give the web slave a crack of the cat-o-nine-tails to keep him in his place. He's far too clever for his own good.

I looked on the Onnwal site today and couldn't find it.

Maybe I have the wrong site

http://www.onnwal.org.uk/

That is the site I was checking is it the one you are talking about with the good list of LGJs?

If this is the site where is the link for the LGJs?

For Dungeon #13 try Ebay or www.nobleknight.com. They'll ship internationally.

While we're on the subject, anybody know a cheap place to score a copy of LGJ #5? Its the only one I need.

If you are counting the ones in Dungeon, then yes.
