What to do with all that gold. [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-11-07, 12:34 PM I've played a few adaptables recently and have acquired some gold I haven't had a chance to spend yet.

Huma, Oeridian
Marshal 4/Ftr 2/Pal 2/Pious Templar 2

Str 16, Dex 10, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 12 and Cha 16

Weapons, +! Silver heavy mace, Cold Iron LS, Composite LB (Str +2)

Armor- +! Death Ward Full Plate, +1 Large Heavy Steel Shield

Items: Scarab of Golembane, Vest of Resistance, Cloak of Elemental Protection, Ring of Pro +1, Bracers of DRaconic Str +2

So, I have a little of 12000 gold to spend. I was considering putting sacred (I don't have access to holy) on my mace. My region (Furyondy) does have enough undead to warrant the addition to the mace. I also have access to ghost strike, sacred burst, bane undead, ghost strike, shock, paralytic burst, bloodseeking, exit wound and a few other misc upgrades. Not sure if this is going to be worth it.

I could also get a cloak of Cha +2 and get rid of the cloak of Ele pro. This would boost my auras, raise my saves and improve my smites.

I could buy an amulet of health to improve my hp (63 ATM) since I like to use divine favor on occasion.

I could buy a trained dire eagle for a mount. I could upgrade my bracers of Dra Str to +4. I have access to multiple elemental gems, globes of sunlight, ring of spell turning, periapt of Wis +2 or +4

I could upgrade my armor or shield to include death ward again, elect or fire res, invulnerability, light fort, axeblock, anti-impact

I'm not sure what will be the most beneficial for my character. They all sound interesting and will pick up more than a few along the way. Any suggestions?

02-11-07, 12:48 PM dammit I;ve done like 70 mods and never saw death ward access for armor/shield /rant

but anyway, best thing I ever bought with 12000 was boots of speed. If you don't have access to the boots, hmm, your hit points seem kinda low, I would at least want an amulet of con +2 and I might save up a few more thousand for an amulet of con +4. Although this would mean no periapt of wisdom.

02-11-07, 09:14 PM Ghost Strike might not be a bad idea, but I'd put it on a secondary ghost-specific weapon, not a primary. It's not something you'll need all the time, like golembane scarabs, but when you need it, YOU NEED IT.

02-12-07, 11:55 AM 1) wait for the new LGCS to take effect. Looks like you'll have a wider shopping list next week.

2) Get the dire eagle. Flight is gigantic, and absolutely needed at higher levels.

A default dire eagle is average fly which is a bit limiting it is more useful as an animal companion so you can improve the fly.

If you have open access to deathward you could trade your full plate for a mithral or adamantine version.

Though the best value for money with the new LGCS is the 8000 to upgrade your +1 vest of resistance to a +3.
