Isn't there some text sorting function for these forums?

I'm sorry I'm so dense that I can't figure it out...I just can't find it.

Help?

Short answer: there isn't one.

Some time ago, WotC disabled the search feature on these boards. The reasoning I've read on this topic was that, with the size of the boards, searches alone would eat up most of the available processing power of their hardware.

I know that you can use Google to search the boards; I don't know the exact syntax to use.

That would be handy.

It's sticked in the character optimization board. That's where I always go to look for it.

Go to Google's Advanced Search (http://www.google.com/advanced_search%3Fhl%3Den)and use boards1.wizards.com in the Domain box.

or from something like the google toolbar built into Firefox:
site:boards1.wizards.com <search text>
