Which class or classes are getting played too much? What classes would you like to see less of at the table?

hey, mines not a paladin... its a master thrower in disguise.

they dont actually get played much :D

classes that need to be played less... sorcerers. specifically vanila sorcerers. i mean i LOVE gem and az, but our area has a plethora of 'do nothing well in particular' sorcerers with crappy stat lines...

actually now i think about it: things that need to be played less: anything played by idiots.

Silly Gnomes, Tho Furious George the Fighting moneky is a rather interesting fellow.

Too many Radiant Cheeseweaslals of Pelor, whilst a great classs, and I like them around to heal me, I would have thought there would be more other clerics, when people just do the optimised version, they all worship the same god, do the same things, it reduces the roleplaying and becomes more of a combat game.

Having said that, I love my RCWOP, I just htink there shouldn't be a god based PrC dominating an entire group of people and one of the 4 core classes.

It is a roleplaying game after all, and ther are thousands of gods...

Awww, and you haven't even played with her. Thanks :cloud9:

 I have nothing more to say in this thread.

I think our definition of "light infantry" is different - I use that term to describe my dervish at mustering because he is highly mobile and does a lot of damage but his AC / HP are only moderate (52 HP and AC 20 at L6, with the ability to kick AC to 30 if need be, 34 vs AoOs). I've never had him accused of being a non-contributor. Of course, he is the starting-Str-18 falchion-wielding power-attacking variety of dervish who dances in, carves the baddies into pieces, and dances away, all with a cute little pixie sitting on his shoulder :P

Gabby gets played a lot actually. She is only 100 Xp off level 4 which puts her about 5 levels off her serious combat effectiveness :) and she has metaregional access to her riding boots now .. yay !!!

Generic invisible fireballing sorcerors can be one trick ponies .. though the appearance of orbs has sort of overcome the problem of the sorceror becoming a low BAB commoner in certian mods a little bit. I still prefer to play with a sorceror that can "fly" the whole party and lay down evards nasty mod breaking goodness over a dedicated damage spell caster any day.

The worst characters to play with are ones that people have built becasue they heard online somewhere the build was "broken" but either muck it up and leave out some critical feature or simply have no idea how to play it unless certian preplanned situations occur where they can do "the thing".

I havent played with az but i have played with min and she is pretty kewl.

I'd like to see more Radiant Cheeseweasels of (insert any other deity here). Pholtus? Ehlonna? That Olman one who's name escapes me?

I'd like to see less dwarven tank types. Dwarves can be other things too! (Like Wizards. Go Dwarven Wizards)

Or more variety from tanks in general. Not that there's anything wrong with tanks, but some variety would be nice. Speaking of which.... more weapon choice variety (particularly among fighters). There are more things out there than spiked chains, swords, and axes. What's wrong with say, scythes? They're cool, and spiffy, and really, really painful when you crit. Scythes need love too!

I think you're confusing light infantry with corks or possibly just useless-infantry.

Light infantry doesn't mean "weapon finesse and I dumped strength". (that model only works for sneak-attack rogues and maybe some weird builds that add intelligence, dex, spell bonuses or wheatever to large numbers of attacks, usually involving a lot of TWF)

The iconic light infantry is a raging barbarian with light armor.

Monks aren't really light infantry unless their full attack does hefty damage. Ditto TWF guys.

Light infantry means two things

1. mobility
2. melee offense

Heavy infantry means

1. high AC
2. melee offense

how you arrive at those things may vary a lot, as will the ratios involved, but below a certain minimum melee offense you aren't either one. A heavy infantry without offense is a "cork". A light infantry without offense is...useless.

Where I play we usually end up with a full table of Fighters and my sorceress... Damn the ugly dwarves and half-orcs to hell!!! My character has a history and an interesting adventuring story...

It's either that or once ( It is kinda rare but funny as) a full table of Wizards and Sorcerers. It is not that bad especially since it was a higher apl (above 6) and we kicked but.

The other thing that i want to see more of is Bards we only have 2 of them where i play and there is Tally, one of the coolest bards ever and my lvl 1 AR 1 bard : ) so technically yes there are 2

I had a time where I called Olivia "Snow White" because every time we were on an adventure requiring social skills she was saddled with 1-3 dwarves who had to be muzzled to get anywhere. I think in the level 1-6 range she had dwarves on 90% of her adventures. It's been a while, but I remember what that was like :)

One thing I really like about my TK sorceress is that by not choosing the same spells as everybody else, she actually is a very strong contributor in the "four+ arcane at the table" musters. Her stuff compliments instead of overlapping.

We've got lots of Clerics of Rao in the Cleveland area. Then again, it's Veluna; Rao is top dog/god in Veluna.

A friend of mine is thinking of making a backup character: a Cleric of Dalt. He figures people will kill him within the first 20 minutes. "Oh, a locked door! *unlocks it* Drat, that was far too easy. Bloody inferior locks. *locks it again* I know! Let's all have a lock-picking contest! What do you mean, you can't all pick the lock at the same time? We used to do it all the time back at the temple!"

...Daltans are in-freaking-sane.

There are a few people building radiant servants of Atroa in Ratik. My Friar Kahlen is just a smidgeon off level three so a fair way to go yet (especially if he wants reasonable CWI). The Atroa ones do not get healing as a domain so they are more turn undead focussed but otherwise are very viable.

The need for a cheeseweasel is partly GM dependant. If your GM has all those annoying incorporeal level sucking undead hiding in the walls run away permanently when turned by a normal cleric there is no need for a radiant servant. On the other hand if they just cower in the wall and come back (as they should) then normal turning is really a bit pointless.

As a side note I actually have noticed that a lot of the genuine (rather than good natured) criticism of Radiant Servants comes from people who have a very vague (or no) idea what advantages (and disadvantages) the class actually has.

Radiant Servants of Azor'Alq, running around with Sun and War domains, are not nearly is common as they should be.
