| firebeetle09-09-07, 02:20 AM | OK, why isn't "Sinister Spire" an adapted adventure? Anyone? |
| chesspiece09-09-07, 08:27 AM | Well, it was only a June release and the Circle doesn't receive advance copies. It should probably be "in process" - factor in the delays of Big Con Season and issuing the Castle Greyhawk Ruins Sourcebook & adventures. But IMHO, there's a chance the LG ending announcement might prevent them from making all the ADP conversions. Given that the previous module was ADP'd, and that the finale is issued in time to be played before the campaign ends, I'd say the odds of it being ADP'd are still better than 50%. Hopefully a Circle member will chime in... |
| TimRat09-09-07, 11:07 AM | It is almost done adapting but i would say it wouldn't come out for a while tho with all the work we have left to do. I'll poke the one who is doing the adapting to see where he's at but like i said don't expect it for at least a month. |
| scon4009-09-07, 12:47 PM | I should have the adaption done this month. |
| firebeetle09-09-07, 04:49 PM | Thank you! I hope it's soon! |
| Nerax09-09-07, 10:11 PM | I should have the adaption done this month. Yay!!! :D |
| TimRat09-14-07, 06:00 PM | We will be adapting the final adventure in the series just so all of you know. The Fortress of the Yuan-Ti. When that will come out I have no idea however. I would not expect to see it until late Nov or so (as I dont think anyone on teh circle has gotten it yet.) |
| Timlagor09-15-07, 07:51 PM | What's Sinister Spire the sequel to? |
| Pardu09-15-07, 09:00 PM | Barrow of the Forgotten King |
| qstor09-17-07, 02:58 PM | Sinister Spire what area is the adaptatation set in? Just wondering... I'll have to get the adventure now. :) thanks to the Co6 for more LG Mike |
| solbergb09-17-07, 03:04 PM | Cool. I'll leave my guy who just finished Barrow at 4th level so he can do that one too. Had good fun in Barrow with him....and he's broke again. |
| RtrnofdMax09-17-07, 04:44 PM | What APL is going to be set at? I imagine 6th since the second part was 5th. |
| solbergb09-17-07, 04:59 PM | The advertisement says "for level 4 characters". My GM said something about the structure and after playing I tend to agree. Barrow looks like it was paced for a party of four level 3s or 5-6 level 2s that get XP as they go, level up to 4 halfway through and push on through. XP and gold aren't given out the same way in LG (always divided by 6, even in 4 person parties etc) so it looks like the Circle set the suggested APL a bit higher (because the 3s aren't guaranteed to go to level 4 halfway through). There are a couple-three fights that challenged our "level 3-4 with one 5" party (which after the first AR was still level 3-4 with one 5 but a couple more 4s). Given that we were a party of 6, our APL was about 4.5 for first half and 5 for second half. We also had a balanced party, which is more normal for a home campaign than in LG, so perhaps the Circle also kinda bumped the APL by 1 to allow for oddball party mixes. |
| RtrnofdMax09-17-07, 05:14 PM | We started with 3 4's and 2 5's for APL 4.4. For the second half we had 3 5's and 2 4's for APL 4.6. Now we are a party of 4 5's and a 4. By the time this thing comes out we will likely have more 6's than fives. If this mod isn't up to APL 6, then we won't be able to play it seems. |
| Timlagor09-18-07, 02:46 AM | The calculated APL of the party doesn't matter for playing things with a fixed APL. You just need each individual to be within 3 levels (or lower level). I get the impression that the main issue with big ADPs tends to be that LG only gives out about 50% of the xp that a 6PC party would get outside LG so you level up slower than the writer anticipates making the final combat very tough. |
| solbergb09-18-07, 12:35 PM | Yeah. We were challenged by the later encounters in Barrow, and not so much the earlier ones, so this theory does make sense. In the final encounter we had one down and several in single digit hitpoints. |
| jhorred09-18-07, 04:04 PM | Yeah. We were challenged by the later encounters in Barrow, and not so much the earlier ones, so this theory does make sense. In the final encounter we had one down and several in single digit hitpoints. Sounds like a good challenging fight, good for a final encounter. |
| RtrnofdMax09-18-07, 04:32 PM | See, now I feel bad. The final battle for my group was cake. We actually split the party and did fine. The only major damage came from "other" sources. I guess Sinister Spire will just be (hopefully) a good story and a good chunk of XP, if not a challenge if kept at the current APL. |
| solbergb09-18-07, 07:34 PM | Under advice from our GM, who kept asking us to lower the levels when mustering, we did something like 3-3s', two 4s and a 5. We also "pushed through" we didn't rest at all in either section. (which isn't quite as bad as it sounds due to module opportunities, but we had a bad party to make the most of them). I think only 2 characters leveled with the first AR...the GM gave us "open slots" for chars who leveled. So we did the final encounter pretty much out of spells, we'd been out of "Rage" for the entire second half, etc. On the plus side we were able to use some of the loot we found along the way to mitigate the challenges. Had we rested, I don't think the second half would have been as much fun. From a story standpoint, it made sense to push onward. I think between us the prep casters had a couple cantrips left. I know my character used all 3 rages, all 9 spells and most of his consumables (unlike many Pale characters he only carried a couple flasks of oil, not the army issue 10 flasks...). Between us we probably burned out a wand and a half of cure light wounds and our wizard burned about half of his L1 wand of magic missiles. I did have a tanglefoot bag left, but I would have used it if one encounter had not suddenly ended a round early due to good melee rolls. |
