| Ancillary03-22-07, 09:21 PM | It seems to me like Greyhawk Ruins is a great place to put some things as open access that didn't quite fit. Like the two shadowbane, nightsong and daggerspell classes. They require an org so were not made open. In ruins they could have one. Stuff like the urban druid varient from races of destiny would be nice as well. Since this does not seem to be tied to one specific book, I just thought I would mention some things I thought would be fun. |
| Grantor03-22-07, 09:24 PM | Our region offers the Nightsong PrCs through meta-regional access. I want to see lots of loot from the Magic Item Compendium! Augment Crystals! Eternal Wands! Chronocharms! |
| Ancillary03-22-07, 09:33 PM | Unfortunately I am under the impression Your new ruins character needs to be from greyhwk and cannot benefit from other region's metaorgs. I could easily be wrong, but it is because of this percieved restriction that I think additions such as these would be good. |
| Crazy Boro03-22-07, 09:34 PM | 1. Kobold PCs 2. Warlock PCs 3. Kobold Warlock PCs :D |
| Jay_Ibero_91103-22-07, 09:45 PM | Perhaps more access to alternate class features or racial substitution levels? I'd love to make a Hexblade with the Dark Companion class feature...Maybe throw in Illumians...I dunno... |
| Haro03-22-07, 09:46 PM | I would like to see reasonable Alternate Class abilities available for selection by characters with a home region of Greyhawk. Importantly, those selectable only at 1st level, would help make the characters unique to that plot arc. That being said, there are plenty of overpowered variants that will need to be closed. Perhaps just a limited selection? Joe |
| cycloptic_squirrel03-22-07, 11:57 PM | 1. Kobold PCs 2. Warlock PCs 3. Kobold Warlock PCs :D If we're hoping for more PC races, how about tiny abboreal mammals with some sort of uni-occular template? Maybe just as a familiar? Maybe? Didn't think so anyway... :allalone: |
| GreatSiron03-23-07, 01:00 AM | What I wish for that I think I might get: access to Greyhawk Regional Feats, awesome loot access (Pearls of Power, unique items that aren't useless) What I wish for that I don't think will happen: Duskblade access, new races. |
| Crazy Boro03-23-07, 01:14 AM | If we're hoping for more PC races, how about tiny abboreal mammals with some sort of uni-occular template? Maybe just as a familiar? Maybe? Didn't think so anyway... :allalone: Sorry, but the lovable Flumph has had my vote since back in year 3. They should allow those for familiars. I'd be up for an awakened, one-eyed squirrel cohort if I could. I'll also put in a vote for Flumph familiars. (Standard or needing the Improved Familiar feat) :D |
| Grantor03-23-07, 05:52 PM | Unfortunately I am under the impression Your new ruins character needs to be from greyhwk and cannot benefit from other region's metaorgs. I could easily be wrong, but it is because of this percieved restriction that I think additions such as these would be good. You're right, of course. I was only commenting that we have had a chance to play that type of character already. And commenting rather poorly, it seems. |
| David Argall03-23-07, 07:58 PM | Unfortunately I am under the impression Your new ruins character needs to be from greyhwk and cannot benefit from other region's metaorgs. I could easily be wrong, but it is because of this percieved restriction that I think additions such as these would be good. The rules as not yet written say your new PC can be from Greyhawk, which mine will be, but that is not a requirement. But that does bring up that the 1st Ruins adventure is to be in May and it is almost April. Any news on when we will have Greyhawk Ruins rules? As to what to wish for, try to stick to the vanilla choices. Wisely, the powers that be will not try anything too radical. They will want to give us well tested options [preferably somewhat weak ones], and the more exotic the option, the less chance it has. [And if it impresses you as a real stud choice, it should be rejected out of hand.] |
| Bold03-23-07, 08:50 PM | But that does bring up that the 1st Ruins adventure is to be in May and it is almost April. Any news on when we will have Greyhawk Ruins rules? I seem to recall reading that the first adventure had been delayed, and is now a GenCon Indy release in August. |
| Shieldhart9103-24-07, 10:30 PM | Which is sad, but true. I can't wait to start my Greyhawk character! What's the deal on that? I heard it's like a four-round adventure. Are we getting four ARs per part or what's up? |
| TimRat03-24-07, 10:55 PM | Everything is still being worked on. The actual WOTC adventure that you can buy in the store (expedition to Greyhawk Ruins) doesn't come out for a while but details will be forthcoming. so i'm glad you are all excited just hold on just a bit longer. thanks!! |
| Puggle Halfwine03-25-07, 02:10 AM | ... kobold PCs...! |
| David Argall03-25-07, 03:40 AM | I would think that drow would get the most votes. However, Lizardman would be more likely to get circle approval. You will presumably get 1 AR per advanture, or a total of 4 for this series. Now we can hope for enough favors and access that they need extra pages, but the basic is still 1 AR per adventure. |
| Southernskies03-25-07, 06:46 AM | Some basic creation guidelines so we can play some intro adventures between now and the release with the new PCs. I've run out, and we only have 2 new intro's premiering between now and then locally, which would give 900 xp before going into it. |
| cycloptic_squirrel03-25-07, 08:47 AM | ... kobold PCs...! I would think that drow would get the most votes. However, Lizardman would be more likely to get circle approval. :( |
| Timlagor03-25-07, 01:28 PM | I would think that drow would get the most votes. However, Lizardman would be more likely to get circle approval. I vote against Drow |
| GreatSiron03-26-07, 11:18 AM | I vote against Drow I second that vote. |
| Munkwunk03-26-07, 12:58 PM | I would third that vote against Drow, not that I think it's needed. I've actually been hoping for Illumians. The Bright Sands arc added some Sandstorm races, so the precedent is there to add races from other books. Really though, I'd just like to see the Loredelver PrC, especially since I think it would make so much sense for a setting like this. |
| Mithreinmaethor03-26-07, 02:39 PM | Well considering that this whole arc is going to more than likely be one giant dungeon crawl (with a few trips to the surface I am sure), and with Dungeonscape coming out, I would look for things from this book to be the special access we get. Now what from the book we might get access to is still in the air until the put the source book out for Greyhawk Ruins (June I think I heard, would love to have it sooner though) There are 2 new PRC's that we might gain access to and tons of adventuring gear also. There are of course new feats etc. And some Alternative class features. There are not any new races presented however. So if they wish to open up a race it will probably be some underground race from another book. (Stonechild from Races of Stone comes to mind) Oh and my votes: Kobolds - NO Drow - Oh hell NO |
| Lupo03-26-07, 03:43 PM | I vote against Drow I second that vote. can we have the right to ban "wonnabe drow" players from the table?? those who start their character's description like this  : player: "you see a wood elf, actually even dark skinned for a wood elf, and nearly white hair . . ." me asks: "two scimitars???" player: "how do you know???" me starts to scream :P ciao martin m. |

| Grantor03-26-07, 06:40 PM | Some basic creation guidelines so we can play some intro adventures between now and the release with the new PCs. I thought that the first AR in your stack for Greyhawk Ruins had to be from that campaign in order to play any of the special options. Wouldn't that proclude playing intros ahead of time. Also, isn't the first four-round adventure meant to be an intro that takes the characters up to 2nd level (maybe third) in one sitting? |

Yes it has to be your 1st AR in the stack to get to take advantage of all the options. I think people want to see if those options are worth waiting to play the character for. And I would think the module would get you pretty close to 3rd. Those that play some mods before hand would definitely make 3rd I bet. |
| Mithreinmaethor03-27-07, 07:38 AM | Actually with all the other non-human races having more than one choice for them why not show some love for the Gnomes. Put in Whisper Gnomes. Might even make me want to make a Rogue or something |
| Aremedis03-27-07, 09:12 PM | All I really want to see is Beast Heart Adept be Open for the Greyhawk Ruins characters. I wants me my pet Chimeras. |

| Genghis Cohen03-27-07, 09:45 PM | Now the Whisper Gnome, that's a race I'll vote for.I'd rather see Underpants Gnomes. |
| cycloptic_squirrel03-27-07, 10:28 PM | I'd rather see Underpants Gnomes. Come down to the State College area. You'll see more than you ever wanted. If I had any ranks in bluff, I swear I would have sold a giant the loincloth I stole off of him while he was napping. Hill Giant - Hmmm, I seem to be missing my loincloth, that's a shame. Wedgie (businessman extraordinare) - That's unfortunate. But today can't be a terribly unlucky day for you, because I happen to have a loincloth that I think might just fit you! At APL 2, I thought there would be much DM smotage, but I actually ended up selling him about 5 shares of stock of Gnome Enterprises Ltd. |
| Sutro03-28-07, 08:06 PM | The Whisper Gnome is some silly, silly overpower. Vote = No. |
| GreatSiron03-28-07, 09:32 PM | The Whisper Gnome is some silly, silly overpower. Vote = No. And on that note, should the Circle give us any new races at all? I'd be okay with the new class from Dungeonscape. New base classes are always nice. |
| saint_matthew03-29-07, 03:26 AM | I'd just be happy with some new interesting Meta-Orgs. It's not like we need any new races & god knows we don't need any more base classess. A lot of stuff you guys have listed as "wants" are just silly. Flumph familiars... come on guys, get serious. I would like to see modules where NPC characters don't have completely unbelievable names. I mean i am meant to be running "a long way for a little knowledge" & i have had to change the names of at least 3 NPC's just so the players take it seriously. A cat named whifflepurr & two gnomes whom are not twins, called Klink & Clank. You can tell that these modules were never play-tested by anyone. A friend of mine holds the opinion that people who write LG modules are just DM's whom are not talented enough to write for Dungeon. I used to tell him he was wrong, but recently i've noticed a disturbing trend of badly written modules, that hit on the same group of cliches over & over & over again. I swear if i have to save one more noble from some big bad, i am going to scream. |

You would be depriving your players from reaquainting with one of the most loved pets in LG history. I'm assuming you didn't play the year 3 core 'Nine Lives' because Fonkin and his cat were central to the plot and are remembered fondly in this part of the world. I'd hardly call a cat an NPC worthy of changing the name of and as far as Gnomes go Wifflepurr is not a ridiculous name for one either... I won't bother to reply to the rest of your rant about the quality of writing other than to say I didn't consider Jason Bulhman (for example) among the best LG writers when he was involved in the campaign. Far from it. Joe |
| Timlagor03-29-07, 10:33 AM | Don't hold your breath waiting for the Factotum in LG. |
| GreatSiron03-29-07, 11:18 AM | Don't hold your breath waiting for the Factotum in LG. Yeah, looking over that class again (all I noticed last time was that it had all skill as class) this class looks like more of a rules nightmare than the warlock. Although I'd like a base class that has class skills of everything, it's abilities (which are very nice by the way) are too rule cumbersome. |
| Timlagor04-03-07, 12:43 PM | Yeah, looking over that class again (all I noticed last time was that it had all skill as class) this class looks like more of a rules nightmare than the warlock. Although I'd like a base class that has class skills of everything, it's abilities (which are very nice by the way) are too rule cumbersome. The words I would have chosen were: "powerful" and "versatile". The mere fact that all skills are class skills is going to have alarms going off all over Circle Central. (I don't think it's actually hard to adjudicate and nor does it require a whole new system -it's not even close to being comparable to the introduction of Shadow Magic) |
| GreySector04-04-07, 05:03 PM | I've actually been hoping for Illumians. The problem with Illumians is that the rules for how their power sigils work aren't very clear. IMO it isn't a good idea to allow a race with such serious rules issues in a campaign like Living Greyhawk. If the Circle is willing to issue a FAQ or rules document clearing up all of the inconsistencies in the power sigils (how many you gain, when you gain them, what words they form, how many words they form, what magnitude of bonus the sigils grant, etc.) I kind of doubt that will happen though. |

Wow the rules for the sigils was pretty straight forward to me. Not quite sure where the issues you see comes from. But they were not on my list of things I would like to see. |
| Timlagor04-04-07, 08:41 PM | I wanna play a SPELLSCALE :D |
| Morgen04-07-07, 01:33 PM | I'm all for Kobolds myself, but a campaign card would be a better way to do them justice. :D |
| cetiken04-07-07, 03:50 PM | I think the Alternate Class features in Dungeonscape are pretty tasty - rangers searching for traps, barbarians 'disarming' traps the same way they tend to 'open' locks. Good stuff there. As for the factorum it seems fun, if you like playing second fiddle to everyone. |
| thewh004-12-07, 07:20 PM | What I wish for that I don't think will happen: Duskblade access, new races. I'd definitely second a vote for Duskblade access. |
| Timlagor04-13-07, 09:59 PM | I'd like to be able to use Tome of Battle but somehow i don't think that's going to happen ;) |
| dark_poet04-14-07, 12:47 AM | I really like dungeonscape as it naturally fits the dungeon theme of ruins. Actually I'm thinking that perhaps varient rules options for classes like Rangers and Druids that make them more suited for dungeons would be nice. Kobolds: Hmmm...works well I guess. But not much personal interest in it. Drow: Not in LG. Whisper Gnomes: I like the concept really. Never liked gnomes being jolly. My gnome wizard is hardly jolly. Was orphaned as a child, began studying the arcane arts, got possessed (not prizes for guessing from where), became somewhat 'liked' by Nerull and is looked upon unfavourably by most of Perrenland. Soon he will be literally scaring people to death. And I prefer Eberron gnomes which are more scheming and manuplative. However, not sure about the power balance of whisper gnomes. Spellscale: Was thinking of making one for XE Crimson Codex. Sounded cool. But not sure if it fits the dungeon crawl theme. I guess XE has satisfied my urge to try 'new and interesting' stuff. Oh well...I'll gladly accept anything the circle opens. |

Good stuff there. As for the factorum it seems fun, if you like playing second fiddle to everyone. That might be really, really handy. As it is most class features and roles can be filled by multiple classes (fighters/paladins/barbs as meat shields) ir can be kludged by another class (bards/druids as healers). Except for rogues. If you're missing a rogue you automatically cannot disarm traps and automatically cannot pick locks. |

Actually, any class can open locks, as long as the character has taken cross-class skills in it. |
| bitznarf04-15-07, 12:00 AM | Dont forget knock. |
