It seems a bit powerful to me, but I can't find anything in the actual rules that goes against it. -9 to an attribute or a 75% chance to lose all actions is pretty damn good for a fifth level spell.

Opinions?

[Edit]

Crap, nm, didn't see the "variable" part. >.<

The bit in the rules against it is this: Empower spell requires random components. There aren't any in Bestow Curse (at least for the forms listed).

Note: Post started before the edit.

Yeah, I just noticed that as you were posting. Guess we can't have it all.

Although I suppose you could argue with your GM that a curse which reduced attributes by -5 to -7 points would fit within the limits of the "any other curse you can think of that's a similar power level" category of curse. Then you empower it.

But then that's only a 1d3+4, which would only come out as either a -5, -7, or -8. It's still better, but not quite "two-spell levels higher" better.

Yeah, sorry about that. I'd delete it if "they" would let me. :embarrass

Except the +4 gets multiplied too. Read the description in empower of a magic missile.

So, it would be (5 to 7)*1.5 = 7 to 10 points.

Hmmm.....that's weird. And that does make it pretty powerful then; it's not quite a Ray of Enfeeblement, but it's still not bad.
