+1 true striking seeking light crossbow of many bolts

the crossbow has true striking so it hits with +20

it has seeking so it voids miss chance and cover (sometimes)

and it fires 1 real bolt but 4 illusions appear and all hit too but don't damage the target. But this causes the person to lose your Dex modifer to AC because they don't know which bolt to dodge

thus allowing sneak attacks

Not on your life.

If you’re GM is insane
20*20*1000 (+20 to hit)
1*1*1000 (+1 damage)
1000gp to ignore miss chance true strike /2 dosnt include +20*2unsloted
You have +20 to hit you don’t need to ignore cover
Every shot is a sneak attack. Comparable to a ring of invisibility *2 unslotted /2 doesn’t help you sneak past somebody 90000

Epic item (hit bonus >5) *10
32,920,000gp

and I was being generous making the attack bonus only a base 1000. 1500 would be more reasonable.

well
what if the crossbow is a +1 seeking crossbow so

that can use true strike 3/day
and silent image 3/day to make the fake bolts ( i'm just assuming that the person would lose thier dex because if 5 bolts are coming at you which one would you try and dodge?)

When you are pricing items, the effect is what you price. If you want +20 to hit, it's priced as +20 to hit, not as a 1st level spell. Even if there is a spell that gives +20 to hit.

However, there is a Bow of the Arrows in Sword and fist that costs 4,000gp. It's a standard action to activate the true strike, and it's spell completion, so you need to have true strike on your spell list to use that function. Since it's a standard action to activate it, you only are able to take one shot every other round. While the item description says Arcane Archers favor this bow, they usually are shooting 5 or more arrows at a decent attack bonus every round and arn't likely to use it. I can see it as more useful to a (elf)wizard or maybe rogue who wouldn't be able to hit on much less than a 20 normally, to instead have a near garunteed hit every other round.

Now that's half your item. Now you want it to deny dex, to allow sneak attacks. Hmmm, anyone know of weapon enhancement that might do that? I would expect that to be a +2 ability, so the original weapon cost (+1 +2000gp) becomes (+3 +2000gp or 20,000gp). I don't think i'd actually allow it in a game, but that would be a starting point in talking to your dm.

A quick look in the DMG shows Briliant Energy weapons (able to ignore armor bonuses to AC) is +4. You want to ignore Dex bonus to AC, that is comperable so would also probably be +4, not +2 as I said above. So now your weapon is 52,000gp, requires your rogue to make a successful use magic device check, and can only be used every other round.

I'd have to say way to powerful. And I play a Wiz/Rog myself so would love an item like this. I suggest that you look at other ways to deny your opponent their dex bonus other than the silent image (as this effect would require concentration)

By making a weapon that always does sneak attack damage you take roleplaying out of the game. A good rogue player would make position to gain a sneak attack. If you have access to silent image use it for something a little more simple, perhaps create an illusion of a wall or something like that?

You could also use blindness or pyrotechnics is a good one. Have a strategy planned with the party, you yell blink and they all shut their eyes, off goes your pyrotechnics and only the nasties have to save. The ones that are blinded by the show are going to be subject to sneak attacks.

Possible suggestion (as above)

I started to give a pricing suggestion, and each time I looked at the item write-up, I realized it is simply not worth it. Uber-cheese. More cheese than a three cheese delight from Totino's Pizza. More cheese than a Alfano's Stuffed Breadstick. Too much cheese.
