Disintegrate says "When used against an object, the ray simply disintegrates as much as one 10-foot cube of nonliving matter"

How big is this cube? Is it 10x10x10 feet or rather 1x1x10 (shaped in a way the caster wants?

We had an argument about this matter last session and could not settle on an agreement. I guess the question is ridiculous for any native English speaking person. But we do not have one of those ;)

So could anyone clarify, please?

10x10x10 feet
That would be a cube, yes.
or rather 1x1x10
If I remember my high school Geometry correctly, that would be a parallelapiped, not a cube.

So 10x10x10 it is (rather than 2.15x2.15x2.15 - for your math teacher)?

Sounds a bit limited to me for a level 6 spell. You cannot shape it in any way and it does not get stronger against objects as you progress in levels.

Well, I guess Disintegrate is not the perfect spell for digging.

Thanks.
