hey all, i just wanted to say i prefer the old-school wild surge to rolling on the rod of wonder. 100 possibilities just seems to have the more of the flavor of a wild surge, but i still want more. i want to roll 1d1000 (10 tables of 100). any ideas out there beyond the 2nd ed. wild surge table from tome of magic?

The 2e Encyclopedia Magica had variant Wand of Wonder tables in it. These could be used...I would suggest you have a try at making your own list.

I may not have understood your question but it sounds as if your want help with a new wild surge table. If that was your request, here is a start. If you wanted sources with other such tables, than I am sorry to report that I do not know of one besides the standard rod of wonder table and wild magic planar traits table.

1: teleported into the far realms
2: bunnies spring out of nowhere and hop away.
3: the your outline is blurred as if by a blur spell for 10 minutes.
4: You are teleported to a random layer of the abyss.
5: your hand catches on fire. You take no damage and can inflict no damage with the fire. the fire is permanent.
6: you gain a limited wish
7: A wail of the banshee spell targeting you and your allies is cast
8: A weird spell trargeting all enemies within 30ft. is cast.
9: your hair turns purple.
10: You grow one size catagory larger (permanent)
11: You shrink one size catagory smaller (permanent)
12: you are hasted for one round and then slowed the next and hasted the round after. this patern continues for two hours.

14: your weight is doubled

Is there a specific power level you are looking for?

If so, this list may need a little modification...

21. A marut appears and decides that all living things are past due to die.
22. A CL 30 Wall of Force divides the area so as to divide enemies as effectively as possible.
23. Valuable gems rain hard in a 40 ft. radius around you. 4d4 hit each 5ft. square, automatically hitting creatures occupying those squares. A grand total of 20d6 land, each worth 50 gp and of various kinds. (may be themed in a way relating to you, like onyx for necromancer, or ruby for pyromaniac, or pearl for underwater)
24. Open a rift to the astral plane sucking in everything not nailed down within 20 ft. radius around you (including you).
25. 2d% lemures appear and do as you command for 1 day.
26. You are petrified.
27. You are sent to a random plane.
28. Target within 100 ft. sent to a random plane.
29. You are Baleful Polymorphed into a form not endangered by the environment. DC 19.
30. Magic Missile targets every creature within 1 mile that does not have a barrier protecting them sufficient to block a Scrying spell. CL 1.
31. You are frozen in time (as Temporal Stasis, no save) for 1 year.
32. You gain regeneration as a tarrasque for 1 hour.
33. You and all allies within 10 ft. must succeed at a Will save against DC 17 or be affected as by a Helm of Opposite Alignment.
34. The next time you die, you are instantly revived as if by a True Resurrection.
35. The next time you die, you are instantly affected as if by Create Greater Undead for the most powerful type of undead that can be created by a caster of your character level at the time of death. This magic is an aura that stays with your physical form and acts as a curse. It can only be removed before affecting your dead body by a successful Break Enchantment against caster level 20. After you become undead, the magic is gone.
36. All creatures within 30 ft. of you are duplicated as if by a Mirror of Opposition. Their duplicates appear as close to the originals as space allows.
37. All elligible dead bodies within 60 ft. of you rise as Zombies under your control. These do not count against any limits you may have for controlling undead.
38. You gain gills and can breathe water for the next hour. You lose the ability to breathe air for that hour, and will sufficate as normal if you cannot find something suitable to breathe. You cannot speak or cast spells with verbal components when you can't breathe.
39. You gain an infinite number of charges of Slay Living for the next week. Any living thing you touch during that week is subjected to the spell at CL 12 and must make a Fortitude save against DC 16 or die instantly.
40. You sweat acid for the next 24 hours. The acid deals 1 damage each round to any living or formerly living thing that touches your skin. This affects cloth and similar items worn, and is added to your unarmed strikes unless your hands (or whatever you are attacking with) are covered.
