Although I loathe 1001 threads, I couldn't resist creating this post because I really am struggling to find useful ways to employ prestidigitation in our game. So, I'm hoping some of you who have used prestidigitation in your game can add some options for some of us who seem to come up with a "blank" when it comes to cantrips.

The first three in the list are from the SRD and are rather general. I'm hoping additions to the list will include more specific uses.

Thanks!

#1 Chill, warm, or flavor 1 pound of nonliving material for 1 hour.
#2 Create small objects that look artificial and are fragile.
#3 Move, clean, or soil an object.

you want useful ways? get another cantrip! That spell just lacks the power to be useful unless you get lucky.

4) Embarrass the BBEG in front of his minions by soiling his pants.
5) Make the invisible visible by soiling a square of flooring, thus creatung footprints.
6) Confuse the guard by making his saliva taste like ______.

I just used that reply as an excuse to use one of my favorite Ben Kenobi quotes. ;)

Wouldn't a search function be useful in a situation like this? Although, I guess I could use Google, but I am so disinclined to do so

7) Make your elf fighter smell like human blood while fighting a landshark.
8) Get revenge on NPCs by offering them "wine" that's actually urine.

9) make a little air disturbance to pick up dirt and find the air currents for secret doors.

10) Summon utensils, or other items

11) Change the apearance of your clothing for disguise

12) Do just about anything so it is the first spell targeted by a 'splash' dispel magic by the BBEG (it always trys to hit the lowest level effect on you first). Best of all, it lasts for an hour and works at any level

13) Baths on the road

14) Remove Green Slime without fear or loosing metal items

15) Bonus to intimidation- multiple effects

16) Prevent others from touching you (and dismissing the Disguise Self spell) by smelling really bad

17) Distraction to guards trying to find that wasp they just saw (illusion or conjuration, your choice)

18) Trap Trigger- conjure something that will definitely disappear in one hour

19) Remove the poison on a weapon when nobody is looking.

20) Bluff many other touch spell effects (healing, shocking grasp, chilling touch, or just make it generic 'black energy with flames')

All of the above in order, until an hour is over.

Seriously, the limits are gone with this spell, once you start using it regularly. It is the 'little wish' of the magic lists.

21- Kill the guard animals with a little kibble-flavored poison

22- Turn your eyes bright red

23- Become a half-elf (point your ears)

24- Become a half-orc (grow tusks, and/or flatten your nose)

25- Back up silent image with a noise. Thusly a lvl 1 spell and a level 0 spell can match a level 2 (mostly). Can't beat that.

26: Create a fake platinum piece and throw it to someone. (toll collector, stupid/greedy bad guy, annoying bard/hobo, etc)

27: Move the chair leg to trip the onrushing attacker.

28: Soil the vain bad guy's clothes/armor/weapon/throne.

29: Clean the Orc chieftan's blood-soaked axe/sword/spear. Really makes him mad, and could take away a magical property (if the weapon has to be soaked in blood to work).

30: Get revenge on the annoying Fighter in your party by turning his armor pink. (This has become a running gag at our table.)

What other cantrip? Prestidigitation has been voted, overwhelmingly, as the best cantrip there is.

Lasts one hour, with a variety of uses:

31. Turn a coin into a stone (sleight of hand/stealing uses)
32. Another theft use: Map, turn it into a flower, pin it on a lapel and walk out.

There are many uses, more for this cantrip than any other...very nice spell!!

34. Repair your clothes after an orc has slashed through it.
The spell cannot do either of these things.
