| Tanegar01-04-08, 11:39 PM | Yeah, yeah, I know: Direct damage sucks, blah blah, ******* Batman, blah blah. What I want to know is, what kind of creative uses have you made of direct damage spells off the battlefield? In tonight's session, the party was going undercover to gain employment with the local assassin's guild. There were two ideas about how to go about this so, being a party of four, we split into pairs to pursue both avenues. My partner and I sought out a seedy tavern likely to offer contacts in the underworld, and he challenged a likely-looking thug to a fistfight. Unbeknownst to the thug, I had previously cast glyph of warding on my partner's left glove, so that when my partner hit him, the thug got blasted for 13 (3d8, 5+3+5) electricity damage. When the thug protested about the use of magic, my partner made the point that being dangerous is as much about using one's wits as one's muscles. That impressed our mark sufficiently to gain us employment as footpads. |
