Golems have poor Reflex saves, and no INT to be able to disbelieve the illusion. It's fun to neutralize a CR 13 monster with two 1st-level spells. The Reflex save may or may not be a problem with most golems - although they have poor Reflex saves, the DC on Grease starts to become irrelevant the higher the HD of the golem. The true power comes from a golem's lack of skill points (due to no Int). What this means is that they have 50% chance of not being able to move out of the Grease, and 25% of the time they fall prone after failing the Balance check. It gets really rather ridiculous. My combo: Sleet Storm + Any area spell. Sleet Storm blocks out all sight in a 40-foot radius, prevents those inside from being able to target you with spells or attacks (they can fire blindly I suppose), and getting out of the area takes several rounds if you are lucky (e.g. Balance DC 10 for half speed). There is no save or SR and it works at Long range. It is a highly under-used spell, especially considering you can follow it up with a barrage of Area spells like Fireball, etc, since you know that the enemy cannot exit the Sleet Storm within 1 round unless they were (typically) 10 feet from the edge. |
| frasmage12-09-06, 10:59 PM | we already have a thread for this: spell abuse competition. Its in my sig. being the judge of that, I will give you a verdict on your combos here anyways: dheran: yes, reflex isn't going to be a huge issue with the high HD vs. low level spell. Also note that will is based on wisdom, not int, so the creature can still discern it as fake redraven: ok, the spell its self.... that isn't really a combo or anything. Its just the plain spell. Granted it is good, but that is not a combo |
