| Red_Decker04-10-05, 12:36 AM | My character just got one in random treasure. Is there any use for them other then appetizers for the monsters he's fighting. So I'd like to start a list of uses for the Gray Bag of tricks. I'll start with #1. A snack for when the catfolk ranger gets bored. http://www.geocities.com/customsmiliesbyswordmaster/inthered.txt |

Since the Bag is only a 900gp item, I'm assuming that's pretty low. The Bag's animal can do the Handle Animal tricks on PHB p.74: Attack: other than the badger (which isn't a bad combatant at low levels), this is mostly a distraction (although I have seen a low-level party saved by the attacks of a bird, and a powerful monster's last hit points taken out by a weak Bag-summoned animal). Fetch: animals with decent Climb skills (or Fly) can potentially retrieve items for characters that are otherwise out of reach. Guard: 10-minute portable motion-sensitive alarm system. Perform: possible distraction when the sentries know something is making noise and are coming over to investigate. Seek: canary in the coalmine---send it into a room ahead of you to look for an ambush. The bat's Blindsense and high Listen/Spot can be especially useful here, but the Low-Light Vision most animals have is also valuable. Track: 3/5 of the animals have Scent, which allows low-DC tracking. |

| Braids04-11-05, 12:58 AM | #8 - If you have a Bag of Tricks and you can throw a small person 20 feet...you reach into the bag, pull out a fuzzy badger ball, put the ball in the mouth of a small[or smaller] opponent and throw the opponent 20 feet away. ...or put the ball elsewhere for more fun. |
