So, my DM smacks us in a low-magic campaign setting where arcane magic is feared, persecuted and almost dead. In this setting, any arcane caster is viewed as a monstrosity and must be executed swiftly. The DM requires at least one of the PCs to be a Sorcerer. Guess who volunteered...

Anyway, we're 7th level, coming up on 8th level, and I'm trying to think of what my first fourth level spell should be. I was thinking Otiluke's Resilient Sphere or Phantasmal Killer, but what are your suggestions?

Oh, my feat selection are mostly metamagics (including Silent and Still Spell to disguise my sorcerous nature) and the rest of the party consists of a Barb/Fighter/Tempest, a Ninja, a Monk, a Rogue, a Rogue/Cleric, and a scythe-wielding Fighter. So far I've got stuff like Magic Missile, Charm Person, Disguise Self, Scorching Ray, Invisibility, Haste, and [I]Fireball[I].

Your suggestions are most appreciated.

I like the Orb of X spells from Complete arcane they are nicely damaging and are easy to hit with ranged touch attacks. Also there is Polymorph, really useful and versitile, your fighter types will love being firbolgs later on.
