| TrackStar10-29-06, 10:35 PM | I need a good offensive(damage or save or delay type spell) cleric spell. My enemy has a low will save if that matters. I can use any book. Suggestions? Anything thats broken perferably! :P |
| Damionte10-29-06, 10:44 PM | /SLAP !! You're the cleric ! HEAL ME NOOB ! :) You want offense? Get a x bow ! For spells though try command! |
| TrackStar10-29-06, 10:45 PM | We are tryin to kill this guy asap cause he does alot of dmg, so much that healing is almost pointless. |
| Damionte10-29-06, 10:49 PM | Shoot him! Ok kidding aside you'll need your healing for after the fight. If you insist on useing yourt magic for the fight use <Command> You can make the guy stand there for 1 round. That's about all you got. While he's standing there hopefully yhe rest of the party can take him down. If need be hit him with the spell twice. Plus as long as he's just standing ther he can't swing his sword. It's kind of a poor mans hold person. |
| Mitchell10-29-06, 10:51 PM | Using core only: Cause fear is possible, though it is HD dependant, so may not be the best option overall. Command is decent. Command your enemy to drop their weapons and you save yourself some pain while at the same time maybe giving yourself an AoO if they try to retrieve them. Inflict light wounds is the other option, and the only one that actually does damage (will:half). The downside is it's a touch spell, so you would have to get close, while the others allow you to maintain your distance. |
| jaelis10-29-06, 10:53 PM | Stand there? You can make him fall down. Then everybody else beats on him with +4 to hit, and gets an AoO if he tries to stand up. It's a good deal. What domains do you have? PHB II has blade of blood, you do an extra 3d6 damage on an attack in return for taking 5 damage yourself. |
| Ogre4Hire10-29-06, 10:57 PM | Dealing 5 points of damage to yourself (when you're presumably not higher than 2nd level) isn't really a good thing. |
| TrackStar10-29-06, 11:03 PM | Yea, 5 hp could spell doom if he also managed to get a hit in. I think I am gonna command him to drop his big bad sword unless anyone else can think of somthing. |
| Dragonsblood10-29-06, 11:11 PM | You'd be better off buffing your allies. Bless, Prot from Evil, and Magic Weapon are all great spells for a 1st level cleric to cast. Standing in a stategic position near the people you need to heal midfight is also a great help - the longer your party is standing, the more damage they can deal. |
| scottt10-29-06, 11:24 PM | OK, let me preface this by saying that I agree with the others. Generally clerics should concentrate on Healing, Buffing and Turning but having said that here are a couple of ideas... I quite like Magic Stone for the damage potential and the standing back in safety. (Nice when combined with Plant domain - 1st level spell entangle) - But that's 2 heal spells down. Fire domain - 1st level spell Burning Hands, use divine spell power to boost your caster level. (possible 5d4 fire damage at 1st level) |
| Damned slayer10-29-06, 11:39 PM | command : die sebject falls in coma/sleep for the whole round make allies do coup de grace and next one he goyya get back up and probably repick weapons thar you've kicked away :) :) |
| Damionte10-30-06, 03:17 AM | As we said though these are all suggestions in case you stick with this idea. The idea isn't a good one though. At bst you have what 3 spells maybe 4 and your party needs you healing more than anything. Even blowing it on a bless spell is too much at lvl 1. At lvl 1 oyu have to figure that if you have 3 encounters one of your party memebers will probably go down in each fight. So once you run out of spells the adventure grinds to a halt. don't waste em on offense. Hell I wouldn't even have a wizard or sorc casting at lvl 1 unless they had a good AoE control spell like Sleep, or Color Spray. Definately don't want them doing something silly like Magic Missle. What's the wizard supposed to do once he's blown his two magic missles. No low level casters should go with utility and control early. You want to do damage, get a light X-Bow. |
| crowclub10-30-06, 03:26 AM | Nimbus of Light (SpC) gives light and can deal (via ranged touch attack) 1d8 + 1/number of rounds since you cast the spell up to your caster level. Light of Lunia (SpC) again gives light and can be fired (via ranged touch attack) as two bolts of light that deal 1d6 damage to dudes and 2d6 to undead, you can fire both in the same round |
| runestar10-30-06, 03:32 AM | Ready an action to cast command as your fighter gets close to the foe? Then cast command word: die, pray he fails the saving throw, and have your fighter coup de grad...:P |
| Reversefigure410-30-06, 03:54 AM | You can't cast Command: "Die". The command spell gives you a list of options you can use. Telling them to drop prone, drop their weapons, or move towards you (provoking all the AoOs as they go) are all quite good options. |
| Kyuketsukiouji10-30-06, 07:25 AM | See, this is why clerics can spontaneously convert spells into healing. Prepare some Commands, and convert them into cures if you need it. In this case, commanding him to disarm and having someone ready to grab the weapon is a good move. So is the "drop to the ground while everyone rapes you for a round" tactic. |
| Forged_Fury10-30-06, 08:20 AM | Not what you're looking for, but I personally like Doom when fighting one opponent with a low will score. He takes a -2 to hit, save, skill checks, and ability checks. It's a good set-up with a wizard or monk. You doom him, the wizard casts grease on his sword and then gets stunned by the monk. -FF |
| Masterfulks10-30-06, 08:53 AM | I play a cleric that typically hates to heal. Just because they can, doesn't mean they should waste all their rounds as support. Screw that. :) Use command, or cast lessor vigor on yourself and wade into battle. I guess it depends on what/who you are fighting? |
| Iron Klaw Merc10-30-06, 11:57 AM | I'm playing a Cleric in a new game (level one), and I must say I'll heal the other players if they need it, but I don't save many spells for that. I am not going to gimp my character by only using my spells to heal, I like to buff them and myself, plus command is just too cool. |
| Whirlwind10-30-06, 01:03 PM | Some other suggestions for 1st level cleric offensive spells: Nimbus of Light (Spell Compendium 148): as a move action coalesce light around your arm, then as a standard action fling it towards your foe within 30 feet. Ranged touch attack. Max Damage 1d8+caster level). No save. Light of Lunia (Spell Compendium 132): beginning the turn after you cast the spell, you can expend the light as a ray with 30' range dealing 1d6 damage or 2d6 against undead or evil outsiders. You can then fire off a second ray for the same damage either on the same or following turn at which point the spell ends. |
| Damned slayer10-30-06, 07:04 PM | You can't cast Command: "Die". The command spell gives you a list of options you can use. Telling them to drop prone, drop their weapons, or move towards you (provoking all the AoOs as they go) are all quite good options. You give the subject a single command, which it obeys to the best of its ability at its earliest opportunity. You may select from the following options. Never said that you had to chose from them it is MAY And it was clearly said in 3.0 that it was one option at worst if you say he cannot just say sleep there is no reason why he couldnt do it... and it do the same effect its only that die is way cooler than sleep lol |
