2 seperate questions: Scrying and explosive runes. [Archive] - Wizards Community

If you cast Scry and you happen to scry upon a Nymph. Does the Nymph's Blinding Beauty (Su) still come into effect?
Same goes for Clairvoyance?

Explosive runes = ruined?

So you have a spell book, with explosive runes on it.
A PC grabs and opens it flips through the pages. Assume the PC sets off the Rune. Bang. Take 18 Points damage.

The Spell Book according to the spell discription takes full damage no save. The damage is force base.

Just how damaged is this book?
What are the possiblities of a PC with Mending, Make Whole and a little bit of time being able to repair it. And would it in fact be repaired to it's completeness?

As long as you're more than 30ft away, no problems.

Depending on how tough the book is, you could probably repair it with mending, make whole, etc. but odds are the ink would be decimated and scrambled around the pages, so it wouldn't do much.

08-07-06, 08:36 AM Make Whole can fix just about anything. Mending would be a LOT of work, though :)

The Blinding Beauty affects humanoids within 30 ft. Scrying != the same as being there, so it shouldn't affect you.

One can assume then with a lot of time, effort and several mending and make whole spells, a PC could repair the spell book. And if I wanted to be a really mean, I could select a variable number of pages that are ruined, hence possible incomplete spells in book.

Example #1: Viewing a web-cam.
Example #2: Viewing a web-cam of someone that you know is in the very next room.
