Sure, your bracelet or ring body slot could be filled with Bracers of Armor or a Ring of Protection +X, but alot of people really underestimate the versatility of just how useful an Unseen Servant can be, even in combat. But a Ring/Bracelet of Unseen Servant only costs 2,000 gp and it can

1 - If you're a bard, it can hold your instruments for you while you fight, or your weapon while you kick in bardic music.

2 - Pour a buff/healing potion down your gullet while you're fighting.

3 - Aid another in breaking down a door (It's weak, but it does have a strength score).

4 - Best Trap Disabler next to a Bag of Many Tricks.

5 - Reload your firearms or crossbow for you.

6 - Hold a torch/continual flame/lantern while you tote your great sword.

7 - Steal away an enemy's weapon after it's knocked out of his hands via your disarm.

8 - Provide a false target for a blinded enemy by poking him in the back.

9 - Tie ropes to ledges you need to climb up to (Provided they are 25ft up or less).

10 - Pour a healing potion down your dying buddy's throat while you fight off his attacker.

11 - Give your weapon back to you after you've been disarmed.

12 - Drop caltrops or alchemist's fire behind you while you're running away to hinder a pursuit.

13 - Make distracting noises in the other direction when a guard/sentry approaches.

14 - Never having to sharpen your own weapons during the downtime.

15 - Carry a mithril/darkwood tower shield for you (If you're small).

16 - Pour Universal Solvent on you when you get caught in a Tanglefoot Bag.

17 - Put material components in your hand to cast a VM component spell when you're grappled.

18 - Loot dead bodies without getting your hands dirty.

19 - Cover your tracks behind you when moving through a forest.

20 - Leather Glove + Oil = A good way to spend those cold nights when you're a Charisma 8 Wizard.

don't forget the combinations of spells/other items.

like levitate + unseen servant :D
if you are light enough, or you have more than one, you don't need to levitate ;)
also, it can gather caltrops after deployed.

Can an unseen servant be the subject of a fly spell or a Phantom Steed? It's crappy 15 ft speed isn't terribly good at high levels. It would have been nice to have had something else force a potion into the rogue the other night.

Okay, that has got to be, the sickest use of a spell I have ever heard in a non BOVD forum

Love that latst one.

BTW where are the stats for this ring/bracelet?

It'd be a 2,000 gp item, since Unseen Servant is a 1st level spell and it lasts for hours per level.

An unseen servant is a shapeless, mindless force. It cannot wear rings. And, if I were your DM, I'd want to know how it was going to pull* a crossbow; unless crank loaders have been invented, there's not a hope in hell that it could load one.

* Amusingly, vBulletin won't let me use the proper word here.

Actually, they have been invented. Read the descriptions...

I have another use for Unseen servant, although I'm not completely sure if it works. Summon your servant and cast Silence on him. When encountering spellcasters just make your servant walk close to the spellcasters ;)

It might work, but I doubt it. Heres one:

Have it Soverign Glue the spellcasters mouth shut.

The silence spell/unseen servant wouldnt work, but a rock with invisibility and silence cast on it being held by the unseen servant would work

(leather glove and oil.. omg. TMFI!)

Forget taking up a slot. Just pony up the extra money and get it slot-less. And while you're at it, tack on the Prestidigitation at will and you're good to go! :)

There are no strenght limits on reloading a crossbow-one of the reasons that it is used by spell casters. You could make one up , but that is just a way to squash creativity.

I used my item of Pres, Havers Red Eye, as a gentalmans assistant. As soon as I could I was going to up grade it with Unseen Servant, allowing me to unlacht doors from the um, wrong side and undress ladies with My Red Eye...

Can someone give me the exact cost of a ring of Unseen Servant that lasts for 24 hours/is continuous and takes up no body slot or where exactly in the DMG 3.5 are the rules for it? I think I am at the section but I can't seem to find the exact rules for it.

1 - If you're a bard, it can hold your instruments for you while you fight, or your weapon while you kick in bardic music. Its speed is 15 feet, so it wouldnt be able to keep up with you in combat if you werent a small and in medium or greater armor. I think a DM would likely rule that it is still a move action to hand something to or get something from an unseen servant and that doing so still provokes an AoO, so youre really going to be better off with a Handy Haversack, which also cost 2000 gp.

2 - Pour a buff/healing potion down your gullet while you're fighting.again, standing there, still, with your mouth open so a servant can poor a potion down your throat is going to still provoke an attack of opportunity, on both you and your servant, and it will still take a standard action.

3 - Aid another in breaking down a door (It's weak, but it does have a strength score).Even if you can, its strength is 2, so to hit a 10, he will need to roll a 14. A 30% chance for a +2 bonus? Even your sorcerer can be more helpful than that more consistently.

4 - Best Trap Disabler next to a Bag of Many Tricks. They ar good at that.

5 - Reload your firearms or crossbow for you. This I dont know. Its still going to take the servant the same amount of time (full-round or move action) to load, plus it is going to be a move action to pick up the one you just fired and another move action to hand a loaded one to you. I suppose that if you had a number of loaded heavy crossbows, firing one as a standard action, then dropping it as a free action, then receiving one from the servant could all be done in the same round, enabling you to fire a heavy x-bow at the same rate as a guy with the Rapid-Reload feat.

6 - Hold a torch/continual flame/lantern while you tote your great sword.True, and handy, but something that allowed you to cast Light on your helm or something would be cheaper and it could keep up with you.

7 - Steal away an enemy's weapon after it's knocked out of his hands via your disarm. It would involve an attack of opportunity to do so, and another to get away with the weapon. Not gonna make it.

8 - Provide a false target for a blinded enemy by poking him in the back.Poking someone has to be considered an attack, and the unseen servant cannot attack in any way,

9 - Tie ropes to ledges you need to climb up to (Provided they are 25ft up or less).Tie a firm knot is a DC 10 Use Rope check. The servant cant do it. Edit: Oops. Yes it can.

10 - Pour a healing potion down your dying buddy's throat while you fight off his attacker.Still draws an AoO unless youve gotten between the attacker and the buddy.

11 - Give your weapon back to you after you've been disarmed. It will likely draw an AoO getting to the weapon, it will draw one picking up the weapon, and it will likely draw another, and you as well, handing you the weapon.

12 - Drop caltrops or alchemist's fire behind you while you're running away to hinder a pursuit.Caltrops, yes. Alchemists Fire wouldnt do much.

13 - Make distracting noises in the other direction when a guard/sentry approaches.Yes.

14 - Never having to sharpen your own weapons during the downtime.Sure.

15 - Carry a mithril/darkwood tower shield for you (If you're small). It could provide soft cover, but not a shield bonus.

16 - Pour Universal Solvent on you when you get caught in a Tanglefoot Bag. I suppose.

17 - Put material components in your hand to cast a VM component spell when you're grappled. Thats a tough call, but except for AoOs, I cant think of a reason you couldnt.

18 - Loot dead bodies without getting your hands dirty.Definitely.

19 - Cover your tracks behind you when moving through a forest.Theres a mechanic in place for this already, which involves the party moving at half-speed. I dont think that the servant would let you move any faster.

20 - Leather Glove + Oil = A good way to spend those cold nights when you're a Charisma 8 Wizard. But whats the unseen servant for?

Can someone give me the exact cost of a ring of Unseen Servant that lasts for 24 hours/is continuous and takes up no body slot or where exactly in the DMG 3.5 are the rules for it? I think I am at the section but I can't seem to find the exact rules for it.Looks like 4000gp to me.

Mwahahahaaaa, thanks.

BTW it also says that the Unseen Servant cannot be attacked but if he takes 6 damage from Area of Effect spells he dies. Although I may be crazy....

BTW it also says that the Unseen Servant cannot be attacked but if he takes 6 damage from Area of Effect spells he dies. Although I may be crazy....You appear to be correct. I mean, it doesnt explicitly say that it cannot be attacked, but it seems pretty clear that the only way it can take damage is from an area attack, which amounts to the same thing.
Odd. I never noticed that before.

So, that refuted about every one of my criticisms pretty soundly.

Just out of curiosity, cant the servant double move? I mean, it's not like it can perform any other actions or get tired.
