How far can 10ft3 be streatched? 12'' * 12'' * 12'' = 1728 in3 (cubic inches per cubic foot) 10' * 10' * 10' = 1,000 ft3 (cubic feet per 10 ft3) 1728 * 1000 = 1,728,000 in3 (Cubin inches per 10 ft3) 1728000/12 = 144,000 ft (cubic inches arranged linearly per 10 foot cubic block) 144000/5280 = 27.273 miles so if I touch a mountain side, the BBEG's castle walls (less than 27.3 miles away) can be affected by it? |
| tarkin04-29-05, 04:41 PM | It is limited by only affecting a single stone object. And it specifically states "fine detail isn’t possible". I would rule that Fine Detail means nothing less than 3 inches wide in all directions. That is still 3/4 of a mile by my calculations. Bonus quote: "You may have all the land covered by a single pig's skin." |
| Lazzmaniandevil04-29-05, 04:57 PM | The spell can affect 10 cubic feet, not 10 X 10 X 10 = 1,000 cubic feet. So... 12'' * 12'' * 12'' = 1728 in3 (cubic inches per cubic foot) 1728 * 10 = 17,280 in3 (Cubin inches per 10 ft3) 17280/12 = 1440 ft (cubic inches arranged linearly per 10 foot cubic block) 1440/5280 = 0.27273 miles |
| Alekzandr04-29-05, 05:01 PM | The problem is when you try to pin that single stone object. Like Cement/asphalt roads, single oblect for it's length (cross country), or when it was layed down, or more D+D, Cobblestone streets set in cement, a stone cathedral cemented with morter and lime(which would peremiate it's entire structure), or even the first example of a mountain. Creative uses of stone shape: at lvl 10 make a 10*10*10 foot stone pit in a city street. next turn, snap the pit shut like a crushing wall trap (reflex save to avoid, but the spell IS of instantanous duration). many nasty things you can do with a 4th level touch spell. |
| Alekzandr04-29-05, 05:06 PM | thanks for the math correction Lazzmaniandevil, 27 miles was too good to be true. looks like I did a steap twice. oopsie! Still, 1400+ feet is nothing to sneeze at |
