Curious - does anyone remember what the old wheel of magic was? Just wondering for a campaign I'm putting together. Just say it in clockwise order of some such. Thanks much.

Illusion, Enchantment/Charm, Conjuration/Summoning, Abjuration, Necromancy, Evocation/Invocation, Divination, (Chronomancy), Alteration

Wild magic doesn't fit on the wheel...I don't can't think of any other schools of thaumaturgy off the top of my head, I think the rest were schools of effect.

Chronomancy wasn't one of them, otherwise they are all correct.

Chronomancy was introduced in the Chronomancer's Handbook and described as fitting between Divination and Alteration. As far as just the PHB schools, though, you're right that Chronomancy isn't in there.

Also, depending on when in 2e you're talking about, it might be "greater divination" rather than just "divination." Before they came up with the idea of a school of universal magic, lesser divination (all divination spells of 3rd level or lower) were open to everyone.

Out of curiosity, what were the oppostion school(s) for Chronomancy ??

I don't remember off the top of my head, and I cannot look it up, sadly. My DM from Jr High and High School had the book, and I haven't seen him in about 6 or 7 years.

My gut says it might have been necromancy and abjuration, but I am far from certain.

It is possible that they didn't have opposition schools. I know that they had a rougher XP chart than regular wizards (3000 xp for level 1 as opposed to 2500) so with the exponential growth of required xp they really leveled slowly.

They had all sorts of oddities, so I wouldn't put no opposition schools past them. They basically got every time-related spell from the normal wizard list at 1 spell level lower. 2nd level slow was pretty sweet. 8th level time stop would be sweet if you ever got to that level.
