| ninja105-24-04, 03:44 PM | Hi all, So I'm looking at the feat cooperative spell from Tome and Blood and I notice how it lets multiple casters cast the same spell simultaneously and reap the rewards of a single casting with a higher DC and a better chance to beat spell resistance...... Then I started to think about other things that might factor in. I'll try to use a core 3.0 example to highlite my observation before throwing in all the wonkiness I've considered.... In 3.0, the feat Augment Summoning from Tome and Blood would augment creatures you conjure with a summon spell to gain +1 HP per hit die, +1 to hit, and +1 to damage. Nowwwww, I know that bonuses from the same source or of the same type do not stack........ But would you consider these bonuses to have come from the Augment Summoning feat...... or from Bob the Summoner, Dave the Cleric and Phil the Sorcerer (each of which have the feat)? If we could consider these bonuses as comming from the individual casters in question (who each possess the appropriate feat), would we consider them as being the same type of source (sentient spell caster)? or would they be different sources (wizard A, Cleric B, sorcerer C)? (insert Wonkiness here) Ok, I'm considering using cooperative spell during the creation of undead. I have an NPC necromancer in a 3.5 game. He's a straight cleric (to nerull). I also have PCs going down a similar path. I have just recently been introduced to a cool specialist wizard variant from Unearthed Arcana that has some nice animation benefits and I want my cleric to benefit from it somehow. (insert Cooperative Spell inspiration here) I have also been introduced to some nice feats (3!) that benifit undead creation from a Dragon magazine. (Animation Mastery, Improved Animation and Desecrated Animation) So I guess it comes down to this: I would like to introduce a house rule into my game where a necromancer (or summoner) could benefit from other caster's feats. What's your opinion on: A. Allowing several casters with the Cooperative Spell feat (house ruled from 3.0 --> 3.5) to work together to animate dead and all of their undead augmenting feats/special powers to enhance the target corpse. Caster #1 is the highest level, so his caster level is used for the spell. Caster #2 is a necromancy specialized wizard with the cool variant from Unearthed Arcana. Caster #3 is an (insert caster type here) with all the cool animation feats from the Dragon mag referenced earlier. B. Allowing multiple applications of unnamed bonuses from different casters (sources) to stack? Thanks in advance, ninja1 |
