3.5 Crafting magic ropes that can't easily be cut [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-01-04, 06:17 PM Does anyone have a sample or know where you can make a rope that won't break easily?

I'm not talking about a DC 24 Strength check, 4 hp Silk rope I'm talking something that your average 10th level fighter would have problems breaking/cutting...

How about:

Rope of Steel
Constructed from the silk of a huge monstrous spider, these 50' ropes are then imbued with powerful magic. The rope has DR 15/adamantine for purposes of attempts to cut it, and take a DC 50 for any attempts to break it.
Prerequisites: CL 15; Create Wondrous Items, iron body; Market Price: 4,800gp

I used an arbitrary price, due to the very limited functionality of an 8th level spell used to enchant a rope.

08-02-04, 01:35 AM You may be able to simply make something to suit your needs. If you have access to a sufficient amount of mithril, and the means to make mithril threads out of it, you should be able to make a mithril rope, maybe using some standard hemp to prevent everyone from slicing their fingers off when climbing it. Alternately, you could just use something to wrap the rope with, which should do just as well.
