| AlanBruce11-18-06, 09:56 AM | I don't think so. Unless the caster in question had Freedom of Movement, and even then, unsure about that. That is why spells like Entangle, that cover an area for extended periods of time can be cast from a relatively safe distance by the caster, so he doesn't suffer its ill effects. Of course, the druid or ranger could entangle his enemies and safely pelt them from a distance with a volley of arrows or a well placed Flamestrike, two very legal moves for this scenario. |
| Thayde Rythylaynne11-18-06, 10:04 AM | Yeah, I'm just wondering if the casting Druid could stroll into his own entangle spell and dispatch his enemies without being caught by his own spell. I would think that he would have enough control over his own spell to do this, but I didn't write the spell. |
| Thayde Rythylaynne11-18-06, 10:09 AM | It also doesn't make sense to me that you would have to be a 7th level druid (to cast the 4th level spell "Freedom of Movement") to counter the spell effects of a 1st level druid. What say you Wizo's? |
| AlanBruce11-18-06, 10:20 AM | Be aware that Entangle is very useful, but not overpowered at all. A strong and/or dexterous character can quickly avoid the spell's effects. It is a spell that, at lower levels, serves more as an escape spell, since it gives the druid and his friends a few extra rounds to run away from bigger monsters while these are entangled. The spell's area of effect is a tricky one, since it's pretty wide and it has happened in my games when the party's druid miscast the spell and had his allies fending off vines and shrubbery. The only solution I can find to your question at early levels is to be aware of the area in regards to you and your enemies and to carry a healthy supply of bolts or arrows if you wish to pelt them. |
