| Harmor10-02-04, 04:28 AM | How do you heal a Fire Elemental? |
| Aricandor10-02-04, 04:55 AM | With a Cure <blank> Wounds or Heal spell |
| macfry10-02-04, 04:57 AM | Very carefully. |
| EmirikolTheChaotic10-02-04, 05:05 AM | A better question would be "How do you heal a fire elemental without setting yourself ablaze?" Though the descritopn of the fire elemental's burn attack says: "Creatures hitting a fire elemental with natural weapons or unarmed attacks take fire damage as though hit by the elemental’s attack, and also catch on fire unless they succeed on a Reflex save." It seems reasonable that casting a touch range spell on one would also apply. I believe there are feats/class abilities that allow ranged healing or turn touches into rays, I just can't seem to remember where they are off the top of my head. |
| Talchar10-02-04, 05:55 AM | Feed it some charcoal, Hang marshmellow sticks over its 'head' and make it beg. |
| RaspK FOG10-02-04, 07:27 AM | Fire Shield (Fire), Endure/Protection from/Resist Elements, Energy Buffer, Energy Immunity, yadda-yadda... :D |
| kSquared10-02-04, 09:29 AM | A better question would be "How do you heal a fire elemental without setting yourself ablaze?" [...] It seems reasonable that casting a touch range spell on one would also apply. If the elemental knows you're healing it and wants to be healed, I'd rule that it could briefly weaken its flames to the point where it's not a threat to you, just long enough to touch it and administer the spell. If your DM thinks otherwise, better load up on fire protection. |
| green_yawgmoth10-02-04, 11:15 AM | With a bard/archmage that has arcane reach. :D http://photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |
| The Grinning Pint10-02-04, 11:33 AM | With a stick. Mind you a nonflammable one, made of some strange wood from somewhere far far away. |
| Bifford10-02-04, 12:21 PM | A thick glove. Some materials don't ignite as easily as others (though you might still get some burns underneath). The mass cure wounds and mass heal spells don't require touch, though it's wasteful if it's just one elemental. You could toss the elemental a healing potion. |
| General Dorsey10-02-04, 03:44 PM | A molotov cocktail? What about charcoal of cure light wounds? A reach spell would work also. You may have to get creative, but I think it is within the realm of possibility. |
| macfry10-02-04, 03:52 PM | Spectral Hand (Sor/Wiz 2) allows you to deliver touch range spells at 30 ft. Continuous item (I prefer gloves) of spectral hand is 2 x 3 x 2000 = 12000 gp x 2 (1min/level duration) = 24000 gp. Easily worth it. |
| MoonWizard10-04-04, 04:22 PM | All healing spell are Conjuration spells because they conjure Postive Energy from the Positive Energy plane to the desired target. This is why undead are harmed by healing because they're held together by negative energy (it cancels it out). Because of a Fire Elemental's elemental nature, I don't think that Cure X Wounds spells would heal the FE more than Cause X Wounds would. Elementals are no more good than they are evil, and no more subject to Positive Energy than Negative Energy. IMO, traditional cure spells shouldn't work. |
| RaspK FOG10-04-04, 04:52 PM | And this should then make normal animals immune to cure/inflict spells as well as heal/harm, right? Sorry, wrong reasoning... Positive energy is idealised as the life giver; if negative energy can harm living creatures and there is no reference that elementals are not thus affected, so should positive energy likewise affect elementals. |
